Here is a clip in which Police are pushing back against citizens filming confrontations or arrests:

I think that is a dangerous precedent - for obvious reasons.
BTW, I think the cop in this case probably could have found something to settle this a little less than punching the girl, but those girls were asking to be arrested. The shame of it is that due to the public attention, they will slide on this one.
Good for him. People need to learn that actions have consequences and she earned what she got.
Just want to say that sister girl got just what she deserved.
I agree.
We live in a very dangerous age and she ran up on an officer throwing punches?! Idiot move! She is very fortunate he did not shoot her. The officer was in a tough spot either way.
For those who think he overreacted, while I understand your viewpoint, I'm also sure that if that overgrown girl (regardless of color) ran up on you like that you would not mind someone decking her in the face to control the situation.
Happy Thursday!

Plus the fact that there were two of them confronting him...too easy to get judgemental on this after the fact. It went down pretty fast, and of course these girls were simply asking for trouble.
I finally got to see the video. I wasn't commenting until then...
The girl that got punched was interfering in the cop's apprehension of the other person. She jumped in his shit and shoved him. That's assault on a police officer. The punch was justified.
I'm not blind to the issues of those with too much power and authority, especially bad cops...but I know this much... if you're ever in a situation where you have to deal with cops: Never argue with them, never say anything more than you have to. The less said the better. Keep calm, don't argue, don't resist. If your arrested, STFU and wait until your lawyer is present before you say another word.
Too many people want to fuck with cops. How stupid. They've got the badge...and the gun. If the cop is bad, you can present your case, through your lawyer, much better if you act like a responsible and mature adult later to his higher ups or the courts.
Even if the girl was right about whatever she was upsest about, she lost her case by losing her cool and assaulting the office in charge.
Oh, one more thing.
Someone mentioned that had this taken place in the South, the girl would have probably been treated more harshly.
I don't think so.
When my g'daughter had to be subdued, the officer showed remarkable restraint; of course, the fact that she's a little ol' thing may have played a part in his actions.

Did I understand this right? He was arresting the girl for "jay-walking"? Since when does that happen? He couldn't write a ticket?
McDucky, he would have written her a citation, she refused to give her name to the cop then it became arrestable offense.

I don't know what led up to the girl in red getting involved, but let's assume for argument's sake that he was arresting the girl in black for jay-walking...
Why did the girl in red have to get involved? Even if it is a bogus charge. Take it to the courts, don't fight the cop. Cops aren't always right. They have cases thrown out due to improper procedure or misintrepretation of the law.
The girl in red was obstructing the officer's duty and then she assaulted him. No matter what he was trying to take the other girl in for, the girl that got punched was in the wrong and she tried to use violence to obstruct the cop from doing his job.
