Flirting - WT style (Sept 15 WT)

In the September 15th WT KoolAid edition, the study article "Christian Unity Glorifies God" in paragraph 10 this is stated:

"The immoral world in which we live threatens our unity. People joke about fornication, sing about it, watch it for entertainment, and practice it either in secret or openly. Yet, even flirting, which may involve acting as though you are sexually attracted to someone you have no intention of marrying, can move you away from Jehovah and the congregation. Why? Because it so easily leads to fornication. Also, flirting that leads to a married person into adultery can cruelly seperate children from parents and innocent partners from marrigage matesd. Divisive indeed!"

And there's a photo to reinforce just what flirting is... (I wish I could copy/cut it from the PDF file and post it...maybe someone more tech savvy than I can do it)

The setting is at the workplace. A guys is leaning on a cubicle wall talking to the girl in the next cubicle. He has a wedding band on. Photos of his family are on the desk behind him. Crayon sketches are hanging on the wall. The girl does not have any rings on. She's obviously single. They're both smiling, enjoying a lighthearted moment.

This is a scene played out everyday in offices all across the world. Workmates chatting and laughing. It is not flirting. Yet, the WTS takes what could be a completely honest situation and presents it as something a "Christian" would not ever do. A married man talking to a single woman at work! The scandal!

If this is construed as flirting, then I guess I'm a raging adulterer...

I "flirt" all the time and have never gotten any from a coworker in almost 30 years of working. Now that I think about it, I don't know any of my coworkers in all that time who were doing the nasty together, either.

Also, does anybody still use the word "flirt" anymore? Reading that word in the WT I am reminded me of how they describe the wealthy as living in luxury penthouse apartments like Mr. Drummond on Diff'rent Strokes or something. Could they be any more out of touch?

WT has no faith in the goodness of humanity.

With them, it's always something or someone waiting to pounce on unsuspecting JW's.

Day after day, month after month, year after year, it's the same tired drivel.

A pox on them to time indefinite!

...''can cruelly seperate children from parents"...

BUT, when that happens due to unscriptural shunning, it's OK...

    Go figure.

I might add that I must totally have flirted with multiple single women at my job--talking to them for long periods of time while smiling could evidently be a form of flirtation. I may even have missed my wife's phone calls as a result, thus clearly indicating my rejection of her, the wife of youth! How tragic!

Clearly the WTS has no idea of what goes on in the workplace. This kind of conduct is not tolerated and a person would be playing Russian roulette with their job by doing this. This is the exception rather than the rule, but typical WTS propaganda vilifies contact with non-JW's. Probably far more flirting and affairs by married persons goes on inside the KH's than at work.

I've been working in an office enviroment for the past 5 years, and I can only think of one situation where a married man is fooling around with someone not his wife. Correction, at least two women on the side he's had fun with. We call this guy "the Devil". He's gotta way about him. Put it this way, if he showed up looking for your daughter, you'd hurt him. As far as this article and others like it, me thinks the Writing Department gets their view of proffesional workplace behavior from Aaron Spelling's tv shows like Melrose Place. Think Heather Locklear as a supervisor telling some young stud to "get in my office right now!" If only office behavior was like that

These two were "thinking" with the devious and evil physical human heart rather than with their christian minds - just like back in the 1970s.

Even married persons can be led off into improper forms of sex (all by themselves) by not paying close attention to the Watchtower at all times - some have even given in to practices imitating the dreaded homosexual acts of this old system of things...
