All we have are opinions.
Most of the stuff that different religions and denominations argue over is just that, an opinion, an opinion made by one man 1700 ( Augustin Hippo) years ago or even one made less than 100 years ago ( Rutherford), but still just an opinion.
Are all opinions equally valid? For example, do the opposing opinions of Richard Friedman and the Watchtower Society with regards to the validity of the Documentary Hypothesis hold equal weight?
The Jehovah's Witnesses are a social organization. The Watchtower's leadership is mainly interested in preserving, expanding, and protecting the organizational structure they have inherited. Detailed study of the bible, ancient history, science or anything else dose not help much in this regard.

That's for the individual to decied, isn't it?
One hopes that the individual in question will use common sense and not take EITHER one as "gospel" but research things from BOTH sides and from VARIOUS sources.
For a person to take one view or another just because that is the view they prefer is wrong and not very critical.
Certianly we all do that, we all tend to agree with opinions that mirror our own beliefs or beliefs that we find convinent or attractive at the time.

Yes, and their religion is also their culture. This religion is not like eyeglasses, but it's like their very eyes. Their life/worldview is seen via the religion.
