From the Halls of Montezuma, Our flag's unfurled to every breeze, Here's health to you and to our Corps |
Sir Winston Churchill, British Prime Minister, became an ardent admirer of the U.S. Marine Corps. In the company of guests of state, he often demonstrated his respect for U.S. Marines by reciting, from memory, all three verses of The Marines' Hymn.
that song is not my thing I'm not a patriotic type. I guess the 60's anti vietnam war thing set the tone for my life.
when I was at the kingdom hall the song in my mind was often by the animals
we gotta get out of this place if its the last thing we ever do
we gotta get out of this place girl theirs a better life for me & you
I'm not particularly patriotic, either.
When I was a kid, I used to listen to the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marines recruiting efforts on our battery-powered radio every Sunday morning.
The Marines' Hymn just got my feet to tapping for some reason.
And, I do remember Eric Burdon and The Animals - The House of the Rising Sun.

That was a nursery rhyme for me ......He served in China , Korea and two tours in Vietnam .....try growing up in that house were your Dad is gung-ho military and your Mom is a fanatic Jehovah's Witness ....loads of fun .
