Nice thread Nephilim :)
Indeed, it doesn't really matter if Jesus died on a stake or a cross. What is important is who He is and what His death means.
Of course, the WT has their own different view on who Jesus is i.e. "a god" and not God.
Their clearest statement of their view is the NWT's John 1:1 which concurs with the spiritist/medium Johannes Greber's own "translation".
Back to the cross, ask a JW what is the Greek for "cross"?
Likely, none know the answer but quite simply it is stauros, there is no separate word for cross.
Their main point of reasoning starous means stake is correct but their thinking that it doesn't mean cross is totally false.
Every effort of the WT is to keep the JWs away from the true gospel, the cross is one huge signpost pointing the wrong way in JWsville.
As it is, the cross is the greatest symbol of God's love for mankind and the power of us who are saved by it.
1 Corinthians 1:18 (English Standard Version)
Christ the Wisdom and Power of God
18 For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.Blessings,
Stephen
