Yeah, leaving without notice is like a family member suddenly gone missing.
You, too, would be missed terribly if you just up and left, Gubberning.

I left for a little while... didn't say anything. I kinda knew I'd be back, so I just quietly disappeared, only to return awhile later.
...and none of ya'll even noticed
I think if someone is really determined to move on, a farewell thread may be the thing to create that finality. But, if like I did, they just leave, they've left the option open to return and if they have any JW aspects to their life (spouse, family, etc.) they'll be back, if only for bits a time.
I noticed that both of you were gone.
Even made a thread about one of you.

haha... that's not the time, Sylvia. That was only a few days. I left for 3 or 4 months a couple of years ago
Oh!

I always thought the implants and anal probes were their way of getting us wired to the max?
No? Then I'm takin' this thing out!
It is common on message boards for people to announce a departure. It makes little sense to me but it seems popular. The threads often get a lot of hits. Then some time later the person usually returns. Bonds are formed on message boards that are difficult to break, especially when there is no real reason to break them.
I just roll my eyes at these threads, unless it's someone I really like. Mostly I just roll my eyes.
Especially when they come out with the old "it's not me, it's you" routine.
