I remember in the 70's my friends Mom started partaking of the emblems. She said she had developed a preoccupation with heaven and of wanting to know everything she could about Jehovah and could hardly go a minute without reading the literature or the Bible...even while on the toilet. Her formerly "opposing" husband had recently studied and gotten baptized. He was very upset because he just had gotten on board with the whole idea of living forever in paradise and now his wife was going to be in heaven and he and their four kids would never see her again. I had never thought about how upsetting it would be to realize you might live for eternity in paradise but would never see your mom (or other anointed loved one) again...but they would be watching you for all eternity.

Does anyone know what the annointed will do in heaven for eternity once the seperating work or judgement work is done? I don't remember anything being said about that.

Does anyone know the meaning of the lyrics to Stairway to Heaven (Led Zeppelin)? It seems to have some kind of religious meaning. I think “buying the stairway to heaven” means all the wealth that goes into organized religion and this makes the song writer “wonder” about ulterior motives that may be associated with religion.

Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin has always been MY favorite all time song. I want this song played at my funeral and all my JW relatives forced to sit and listen to every single word. Peace out, mr. Flipper

I think that's a pretty good assumption. You got more from the lyrics than i did.

Like just about anythng someone else writes...it can mean different things to different people. Some say the song is about the Lord of the Rings...others say it is about materialism vs. spirituality. Imagine the ongoing debate there would be if these lyrics had been written thousands of years ago and your life depended on knowing the right meaning. Hmmm...that sounds familiar.

The 144,000 concept comes from Revelation, which also has Heavenly Jerusalem coming down out of Heaven to Earth. The Kingdom Interlinear has "stepping down" under the Gk. words.

They are going to need a stairway to step down, so once Led Zep have gone up, perhaps the 144,00 can use it to step down.

The doctrine of an earthly class and a heavenly class is patently false. Once you pass from this state of existence, all beings are resurrected after an unspecified time in Paradise. JWs have continued to believe in these doctrines despite the incredible amount of information we'e learned from the Dead Sea Scrolls (Jewish) and the Nag Hammadi libraries (Christian) found in Egypt. In fact, the JW belief is one of the weakest of all their beliefs.

Peter speaks of the similarity of putting on and off a cloak in life to putting off his spirit in life. He also said that Jesus was put to death in the flesh, but was made alive in the spirit, by which he went and preached to the spirits in prison, which were disobedient in the days of Noah. Thus it was that Jesus told the thief on the cross, "Today shalt thou be with me in Paradise!" (The overwhelming numbers of scholars laugh at the comma placement, by which Jesus appears to say, "I'm tellin' you today, man, you're going to be with me in Paradise!") Paradise is the place of departed spirits. Origen, who lived right after the apostles said, "After death, I think the saints go to Paradise, a place of learning or school of the spirits, in the which everything they learned on earth would be made clear to them...."

But wait, isn't the Greek word for spirit the same word as that for "breath"? Yep, but it also can mean spirit just as easily. So how does one tell? Contextually. And in many cases it's tough to tell. But there are enough references where most scholars are convinced the words mean "spirit." Plus, the Origen quote can't be interpreted any other way. Oh, and the disciples asked Jesus regarding a blind man, "Master, who did sin, this man or his parents that he was born blind?" Clearly they thought, or were under the impression, that the man lived in Paradise before he was born and consequently could have sinned in that time.

All men and women will be resurrected. And eventually every knee shall bend and every tongue confess Christ. So tell your friends not to worry. Probability Factor in favor of this doctrine being erroneousness is five out of five for it's being in error. There are no heavenly and earthly classes, neither would it make sense.
