(1 Corinthians 11:23-25) ".......that the Lord Jesus on the night on which he was going to be betrayed took a loaf, 24 and after giving thanks, he broke it and said: "This means my body, which is in your behalf. Keep doing this in remembrance of me." 25 He did the same with the cup also, after they had the evening meal, saying: "This cup means the new covenant by virtue of my blood. Keep doing this..."

Have you really read this passage of scripture?

Verses 23 & 24 - Jesus took a loaf, gave thanks, broke it, and handed it out.

Verse 25a - Everyone had the evening meal, then -

Verse 25b - Jesus passed the cup of wine.

In verse 24 he said, "Keep doing this in remembrance of me."

What part of "this" will be missing at your Memorial celebration?

Sad for the witnesses. Their special evening in remembrance of Christ is nothing but a brain washing event in honor of a business. It's uniqueness causes stress to more than one ex-witness I know and a couple of them make it their once a yr. event back to the hall. We were fooled (some still under their control) and right there in black and white - duh. I didn't even question the ritual after sitting in the Baptist Church for yrs. experiencing Jesus' command - monthly.

Thanks for posting - will discuss with couple of friends yet again.

what will be missing is: "--drink ALL of you--" , the "you" addressed to people that were convinced to live on the earth, people that had heard Jesus say earlier* "-- unless you drink -- eat-- you have no life in you--- the one who eats drinks-- HAS everlasting life** and I will resurrect him--"

question: did Jesus mean " this IS what I was talking about* when I said "drink my blood" earlier*

    *John chapter 6

** not immortality. All christians should partake to get everlasting life, The chosen have to sacrifice that right thus acquired. but all should get that right.

As per the my opinion Jehovah's witnesses memorial is not a religious event, it's a marketing tool to increase their numbers. Normaly in our country elders are realy keen on numbers. Next second after the last prayer they need to know the head count and they compare with the previous year and eith the other congregations.

After that they brainwash the new comers. Therefore it's just a marketing campaign.

I will be there, looking joyful, putting on quite the 'good JW' show. Just another mindless meeting, and the social aspect afterwards will make the evening worth it.

Nice post, also it is mention there that "this means the covenant" I believe in Hebrew chapter 9 it says with out his blood and this covenant there is no forgiveness of sins. So not only does everyone supposed to partake but those that don't are not in the new covenant. JW's older ones know this but don't know that their sins are not forgiven and since their not in the New Covenant God will not view them as his people and their all dead.

This religions is truly the anti-Christ.

My family invited me and I was all set to say No. (I am not DF, but I happily go to a baptist church now) I was hurt a little when my mom said she'd make dinner and we'd all ride together. That sounds nice, but...she has never invited us to dinner otherwise. Unless I happened to already be at her house when dinner was served. So, I was still going to say no. Then my husband insisted that we should go to placate my parents. He says we need family and it is important to them. He has never been a JW, so has no idea what going means. The false hope that it will give my mom, the tears, the awkwardness for me as the people that I knew all my life ignores me, the ridiculousness of their logic that makes me angry. I explained this to him, but we're going. Well, at least I got to get a new dress. :/

Iriddle80 - Just grin and bear it for the 35-45 minutes - that's what we'll be doing.

Your husband sounds like a rock for you. I like the sound of him!

Go this year, but don't give your mom false hope...say you are just doing it for her, just this year. it will be especially crazy for you after having gone to the baptist church. But I bet there will be some people who are sweet to you and give you nice greetings, so just focus on that, and the shared history you have with them.

p.s. And rock that new dress!!
