The revolving door and the hardcore ones

I understand that the number of people who join the WT is roughly equal to the number of people who leave. There's a small difference, overall, but in some countries the number of those leaving might even be slightly above the number of those joining. And this has been a problem for ever.

I would like some insight into the minds of those who stay in, not because of family reasons, not because of fear, old age, parental control, but because they really believe the scam. Seeing all those friends you grew up with leaving, seeing how it is nearly futile to try to convert anyone else, seeing time go by without the allegedly imminent end coming, et cetera, all that should make the hard core ones think. Those who have been in longer have also had a longer exposure to the outside world, and, therefore, have had more time to compare their own small hell with life outside. So, what gives? I wonder why it is that they just won't wake up. Any insights, anyone?

Because they still have their teeth into the original carrot that got them in, everlasting life in perfect health on a paradise earth free of wickedness surrounded by their friends and family, deceased or otherwise.

(can you believe these people are 300 years old?)

yea what blondie said, and also if you think "why dont they go to another religion that teaches heaven" etc - they have been brainwashed to believe these are all wrong too, so for them it's the only way they can live forever.

I have heard many a Witness say to me over the years "I can understand why some grow weak and stop attending meetings, but I cannot at all understand how one can leave and join another religion."

I often wonder that as well, my wife is the almost the only one in her family still in. ( with the exception of an old aunt and a cousin) everyone like 15 relatives have left. including our children. she still hangs in. i had a dream the other night that she came up to me and told me she was done, i have never had a dream like that before, although its all i ever think about. I think shes still in cause she loves it. thats the only way. she believes and holds on to the dream. also she couldn't cope with it being a lie. she invested to much in it. anyone who disagrees is a evil, sex crazed, drug using, imoral, person. so much time and energy invested in a lie. same old treadmill of existence, what a waste.

Was I the only one growing up as a kid looking at these pictures and just thought, where are the roads? Where are the vehicles, how are we going to travel to get to where this picture is? How are we going to get our clothes? How are we going to get our wood for our homes made into lumber? If there are sawmills where are we going to get the metal ore smelted and formed into saw blades? Will there be airplanes, boats, ships, trains? Who is going to mine the oil for fuel? How are we going to have electricity?

I mean, as a kid I had questions damn it. I would ask my mom and grandfather and all I would get is we don't know, we'll have to wait and see.

Oh another thing that I wondered about, after the big A, who is going to clean up all that destruction? If we are and there are only .01% of the population left of 6 billion people (math may be off) how are we going to clean all of that up in 1 thousand years.

I think as a kid, my bullshit radar was going off but didn't know it.
