DD, but you are a Baptist and they take a literal view of passages in the Bible, English renderings, that use the word Hell. And that is the heart of the discussion about God, Foregivness, how humans are treated in the afterlife etc..

Jews had their first Reformation, their first Age of Enlightenment, after their repatriation to their homeland post Babylonian exile. Things like Slavery faded from their culture. Some Protestant groups had their age of enlightenment in the 1800s to 2000s and now see the allegorical tales contained in the Bible.

Witnesses and Fundamentalists are bringing up the rear.

    But there is hope.

    Is that what I am?

I didn't see the word "HELL" in the verse I quoted. Did you read it into the text? Maybe you're smarter than you let on. Tell us oh great sage... What does wrath mean in that context OOOOh great enlightened one?

Indeed, for those that KNOW Jesus and God and to refuse them ( hence they blasphem the HS), God is indeed a "consuming fire", in more ways than one and certainly more then in the literal sense.
