Never wear one personally! Never worn one for years. Regretably it annoys the wife but no one else seems bothered. Those that know me know my name; those that don't know me probably don't want to know my name anyway.

    George

PS Maybe this year I ought to wear one with St George of England and a Knight & Dragon crest on it! That would soon find the elder lurkers.

Just reading about this scenario, makes me nauseous. I generally pretend not to see them - at least I won't be upset when they ignore me.

It definitely does provoke very unpleasant feelings, especially when I see how smug and all knowing they are. I guess being with a group gives them a sense of bravado - you surely need this to wear those name tags!

However, I am delighted to be free.

I hated those name tags. I remember once I forgot to remove mine after attending the summer assembly. I needed to go shopping afterwards and when I was in a pharmacy I detected a few people looking at me. I then looked down and realized I was still wearing my stupid tag.

Boy did I feel like an idiot! Too bad I didn't qualify for a discount in the store.

Badges? We don't need no stinking badges.

I feel the same way when I am working and go into a store or restaraunt for lunch. I work for a cable contractor, and that cable company is hated for its lousy service. I can feel the eyes of death staring at me. I usually leave the work name tag in the car. Funny, when I was a dub, I always left my name tag in the car. Or if we were just out for lunch (in violation of Command 5 not to go out to eat during lunch), I would put the tag in my jacket (if I wasnt violating Command 6...brothers wear jackets).... These days I think: "ALERT! ALERT! Cult members!!"

Back when I was in I was embarrased by them. I think deep down inside I knew something was wrong with this deal but having been brought up in it and conditioned to not question, I kept with the program.

But over time I grew to detest the WT badges and over time quit wearing them. I even quit picking them up at counter only to have some elder or zealous MS bring them to me.

I've said it before but I have an aversion to any kind of name tag, anywhere...I think because of all those years of being told to wear the WT one. The only time I wear one is if it's required to enter an event..and then I wear it on a lanyard...never pinned.

I don't understand the need of wearing a badge to a supposedly public event. I have never known other religions to do this when they have their conferences. I would think that doing this would make outsiders feel like outcasts, which is the intended purpose anyway. Other than showing off their exclusivity, it is worthless.

They kind of give me the willies. I mean, I had one for the DC last month (my last...I'll never go again...and if I do, you all have permission to hunt me down and kick my ass) but I hardly wore it. I think I wore it the first day and that was it. I conveniently lost it in my bag lol. I mean, I understand they may serve a purpose when it comes to knowing who your "brothers and sisters" are by name and congregation, but the theme being PLASTERED on it is kind of ridiculous. All it is is free advertising for the cult. I don't think that's what Rutherford meant by "Advertise advertise advertise"...or maybe he did....
