All the talk about the generation changes and the fact that my mother said she doesn't care cause she didn't believe the last few changes anyway got me to thinking. My mom told me strange things growing up, and being a child and believing in her and the org, I just took as fact some things that now seem unlikely to be true.

    1. She said that the end would definitely come before the year 2000. Of course I asked her about that after hearing the song 1999. Based on her answer I was like "boy, I better get my act together." I'm pretty sure she was wrong about that one.

    2. Jehovah would never allow WWIII. According to my mom, WWIII would mean nuclear war which would mean complete destruction of all mankind and the earth. As a child, that put me at ease. As an adult (I actually hadn't thought about it in years) and knowing basic world history, and that "Jehovah" has already "allowed" some pretty horrible things to go down, I just wonder if she really believed that or was that an org belief at some time.

Was this just my mom being her "special" self?

The WTS does suggest that a nuclear event could happen:

    *** g83 12/22 7 No Nuclear Armageddon! ***

World events indicate that the expression of God’s judgment is due at any time. Thus the following prophecy must also shortly undergo fulfillment: “Whenever it is that they are saying: ‘Peace and security!’ then sudden destruction is to be instantly upon them.” (1 Thessalonians 5:3)While not ruling out conventional wars or even a possible limited atomic war, this scripture does rule out a nuclear holocaust. How so? Well, ask yourself: After a nuclear holocaust, who would be left to cry out “peace”? And if there were survivors, just how much reason would they have to cry out “security,” living as they would be upon a radioactive, polluted earth?

My mom said the same thing!

I didn't plan for a life past 26 and 1 month (in this system of things)

Wow..... I just realized the WWIII was still in my subconscious!

Nah, world is too global....... maybe some nuclear terrorist, but WWIII would hurt the economy too much....

I still don't believe there will be a nuclear holocaust. But with WTS's track record of always being wrong, I would worry a bit more now that Blondie showed us the article where they said it wouldn't hapen.

    1. She said that the end would definitely come before the year 2000.

My mother was sure of the end in 1975 and I haven't heard a peep about exactness anymore, BUT she still accepts the 1976 excuse about not knowing how long after Adam, Eve was created. That excuse could actually keep her captive for the rest of her life. But I will eventually exploit the "new light" of the overlap and pry into what she thinks now.

Speaking of the subconscious and the generation thing, when you see that an elderly person has died, someone born in like the 20s do you ever take special note and think about the "generation" passing away? I think it was really ingrained in me that I would not get old. My gramma was convinced that she would walk over into the new order and she's been dead almost a decade.

    More wild speculation:

My cousin stated during GWB's first term (while me and my JW fam were discussing politics and complaining) that it was possible that Jehovah "allowed" him to be president to usher in the GT. I was still a dub at the time so I was like "hmm, seems plausible."

Wow yknot. Thank you for posting that and putting those side by side. I had heard plenty about things getting changed with newer editions and the BV, but to see it, it makes me sick. This organization is so dishonest.

I do expect a terrorist to "dirty bomb" a nuke detonated in air to kill everyone through radiation. Maby ny or dc? there are men out there that believe they are doing gods work with jihad. thats a very dangerous group. i know i would do ANYTHING to help usher in a new world order of peace. so i really understand them and how friggin dangerous they are.

"i know i would do ANYTHING to help usher in a new world order of peace."

Really? I'm open to do some things w/in reason, "anything" is kind of broad.

I meant ANYTHING! If I was raised from infancy to do nothing but jihad the infedel I would be a dangerous person. Your not thinking like a terrorist. They truely believe what they do is for God. Think of the wars in the bible under Gods name. Thankfully I know that my "anything" has to do with staying faithfull even till death.

I'm open to do some things w/in reason....Your forgetting they think this is for God. Youre telling me you would tell God...Well maby big guy. If its in reason!
