This and other major song changes were discussed at length when the new book was released. I don't know how easy the topics will be to find via Search.

The new songbook was another brick in the wall separating my mind from the Borg collective.

I don't know if anyone has noticed this or not, but do you realize that some of the new songs are plagerized. I know it may be nauseating to some, but go to jw.org and download "Preach the Word" and tell me what movie theme that song is ripped from? Maybe I should start a new thread about this.

It's sort of a cool melody...only because it was written by John Fricken Williams.

We can't mention Kingdom Songs without reference to Farkel's take on them:

Scroll to the bottom of the page, then click on the various songs. Dubsticks is my favourite.

I know one of the new songs is a direct rip of the Jurassic Park theme.

Ah, well, Brother Dan, if you've read "Crisis of Conscience", you'll notice that the Watchtower Society has plagiarized some of their most significant teachings... Like the significance of 1914 - plagiarized from the "Second Adventists", among other groups...

Decades ago, a friend pointed out to me that many of the "science" articles printed in the "Awake" magazines were plagiarized from "National Geographic" magazine, "Smithsonian", and others...

So, it doesn't surprise me that they'd plagiarize their songs, too...

Is that the real reason they do not list the authors of the articles in the mags?

I don't know, Serenity... I did a quick check of a few "Awake" articles after my friend mentioned that to me - he was a "good lil' JW", too... The few articles that I did check from the "Awake", seemed to run about a month behind strikingly similar articles in the Nat Geo and Smithsonian...

It was sufficient to open my eyes... As to why they don't allow authors to be listed, ostensibly that's to prevent selfish human "pride" from taking root in the authors' hearts; they're functioning as "channels for 'God's' spirit", etc...

I also suspect that the WTBTS is afraid that a charismatic author may generate a following of his own, and start his own religion - "Draw others away"...
