Thank you for reading, snotrag! Your post begs the question: why the hell did you chose to call yourself "snotrag"??? :)
Anyhoooo... yeah, I think I would... Though I know Le Giun did not have JW's in mind when she wrote the story, for me, it parallels my leaving the WT.
I had a nice life, was well respected, had lots of "friends", knew no other life... I saw the truth about" the truth" and walked away leaving 46 years of life behind. I went from the familiar to the complete unknown and I've never looked back.
How could I live in Omelas knowing what goes on behind the sceens???
