there was a letter posted on the congregation bulletin board.
it said that one can plan and put an application to rent brooklyn rooms for up to 3 days?
anyone know the details?
is contribution necessary?
is it a money making ploy?

I read that the other day but haven't seen the application for it. I would bet there is a suggested contribution but I'm sure it's far below what a NYC hotel room would go for. I'll see what I can find out.
My opinion is that those rooms are just sitting vacant so they may as well get a little revenue from them.
They are using the Bossert this way now like Blondie said. It was just read at the meetings about three or four weeks ago.
My understanding is that the buildings must be heated, cooled, plumbed, and powered anyway. In addition, the support work justifies keeping that many more Bethelites aboard who might otherwise be assigned back to the field.
Rooms are available to baptized and unbaptized publishers and their minor kids.
The form for Patterson says:
"There is a suggested donation of $40 to $60 per night per room. Donations may be made in any of the provided contribution boxes at the time of your visit. Donations by check should be payable to “Watchtower.”"
The form for Brooklyn doesn't mention any specific amount. It says:
"If any desire to make a donation, this may be placed in any of the provided contribution boxes at the time of your visit. Donations by check should be payable to “Watchtower.”"

Ahem. You mean the information board, brother.
Holy s**t! I should go down there, get a room, not donate and bring a woman along for some wonderful fornicating! Wow that would just feel awesome!

"Brother truthsetsonefree, may I ask who is this...young lady that you are bringing to your room?"
"Oh, you mean Safari? I met her at Scores, that strip club in Midtown...just joking! I looked her up in the escort section..."
