To further illustrate that the "front door" could have an allegorical anatomical meaning as well:
The frontal lobe of the brain (which is located directly behind the forehead or temple) involves the ability to recognize future consequences resulting from current actions, to choose between good and bad (or better and best) actions, override and suppress unacceptable social responses, and determine similarities and differences between things and events. Therefore, it is involved in higher mental functions.
It would appear that this part of the brain holds your reasoning skills. And people do make conscious choices based on their desires, emotions, and once in a while, logic. But these choices are usually made with a speculation of reward. "What's in it for me?" Not all choices are made in an altruistic manner. Service to self vs service to others.
A JW family member is motivated to shun you in order to keep their own seat warm in the imaginary paradise. No matter that they may say they are "practicing tough love or gods commandment" (really is fear of the dictates of man) this recourse of action is for their own selfish "preservation". Though they may be manipulated to believe the door to door work is in service to others---it is not. It is, in reality, done as glorification of self...pride in fulfilling "time"; sanctimonious in fulfilling "duty"; and elevated in status among those who dole out the "privileges".
Those who go through the front doors of the secret societies have the rewards in mind. Some are given higher positions in their jobs during the course of events, or perhaps have nice fat contracts given to them and business (from other brotherhood members) knocking on their door. In the beginning the rewards are lucrative. Kind of like "love bombing"... only with dollars, status, favors, and position. Later they learn there is a "price" to be paid and by then, they are p*wned.
