I think something natural will happen. But not earth threatening. Im more focused on what the sun is doing these days. And the earths crust.

It will be another June 12, 2007--December 21, 2012 is going to come and go. The witlesses will probably be frantic trying to get as many as possible into the cancer before that date, only to see it pull a 1976 and leave them deep in debt.
And no, I don't think anything is going to happen any more than is already going to or that Osama Obama doesn't himself create the problems and blame 2012. We are not going to see the earth suddenly spin backwards (too much momentum to allow that) because of a polar reversal. A polar reversal would only play havoc on your compass and anything that is dependent on the polar alignment of the earth to work, and would happen gradually and not suddenly. Just because we are going into the "southern hemisphere" of the galaxy means nothing: We didn't see catastrophe 26,000 years ago, so I am not expecting it now.

I first heard about 2012 when I was in high school (1980s) and found it interesting. Even as a Witness, I always enjoyed reading and studying it. I have a couple shelves on the subject in my library. Most of which were purchased before 1995 or in the 90's. When I would talk to people about it, they would often say they did not know about it or had even heard of it. I went to Cancun a couple times, and have even been on the Mayan pyrimids and talked to Mayan locals about it. Basically, I was and am in to it. Now, as it approaches, Hollywood gets ahold of it and the authors are coming out of the woodwork to cash in on it and then of course, RELIGION GRABS IT!
As a point of important interest and should be noted. The concept of 12/21/12 was brought about by Pagans. There was no cross on those pyramids and there was no prayer to Jehovah for insight. Not to forget, these Pagans were basically destroyed by the European explorers, for their Pagan lives and beliefs. So, with this in mind, it amazes me to no end. How much Christians can become 'belief whores' to take on something that was clearly Pagan in nature. Why should I be shocked, Christian is a whore religion of beliefs anyway. Doubt me??? Research it, they always took on other religions beliefs when ever it suited them.
Now I personally consider myself a Pagan, and I will and do study several areas of the Occult and anything else I can read about or experience. In any case, I enjoy the 2012 thought and will continue to read about it. Now I also think there is a lot to be said about 2012, that could trouble the mind and perhaps raise a lot of concern. However, much like any belief, it is easier to raise fear in a human mind. Then it is to prove the actual existence of what led to that fear. So I have to just simply say, I think it is worth thinking about from time to time and perhaps come to terms with. However, any over obsession with it, is not healthy.
As for Christians who now label this as a possible 'end of days,' and teach it or fear it. It just makes me realize, all the more, how much that religion is grasping at straws to hold faith. It also shows their ignorance, in realizing how many Pagan believes came in to their faith in history. In summary though, I think of a thought from history. If someone tells you, the world is going to end, so why plant food or plan for the future. You take that advice, and stop planting and stop planning. Well, 2012 comes, and lets say 'nothing happens.' Yet, because you did not plant food or plan for the future, your end may still come. Thus, you believe enough in an end, you might cause it without the help of any outside cosmic connection.
So plant, plan and keep a level head and laugh at any Christian who brings up this 2012 concept and ignore the fact that it is as Pagan as it gets.

Find a copy of the October 8, 1968 "Awake!" magazine, and check out the article titled, "What Will the 1970s Bring?". Then read page 13:
"The fact that fifty-four years of the period called the "last days" have already gone by is highly significant. It means that only a few years, at most, remain before the corrupt system of things dominating the earth is destroyed by God."

Get your hands on the booklet, "The Approaching Peace of a Thousand Years", copyrighted 1969, authored primarily by Fred Franz, and check out pages 25 and 26, wherein you will read:
"More recently earnest researchers of the Holy Bible have made a recheck of its chronology. According to their calculations the six millenniums of mankind's life on earth would end in the mid-seventies. [That would be 1974 - 1975, BANE...] Thus the seventh millennium from man's creation by Jehovah God would begin within less than ten years..."
And on page 26: "In order for the Lord Jesus Christ to be "Lord even of the sabbath day," his thousand-year reign would have to be the seventh in a series of thousand-year periods or millenniums. (Matthew 12:8, AV) Thus it would be a sabbatic reign. ..."
THAT's saying its "pretty soon", BANE, soon enough to mislead hundreds of thousands of Jehovah's Witnesses, many of whom gave up their jobs, sold their homes, put off dental and medical issues, and pulled their children away from decent educations, all based on this specious "Doomsday" date of 1975...
BUT, if you want to continue to LIE to YOURSELF, that's YOUR damage, man...

By the way, the term "Pagan" is a grotesque insult, and actually fits Christians far better than PolyTheists - or reasonably well-informed NeoPolyTheists...
The bible itself is intrinsically "PAGAN". The Israelites plagiarized religious beliefs from older, more civilized and better-organized ancient PolyTheist religions and incorporated these so-called "PAGAN" beliefs into their belief system...
The concept of a sacred "tree" in a garden comes from [among other sources] the ancient Sumerians and their Goddess, Inanna, who rescued a tree from a flood and planted it in her sacred garden. The Sumerian civilization predates the bible by AT LEAST 2,000 years...
The Sumerian Goddess Inanna was also "in the underworld [grave] for three days and three nights" before she was rescued by her demi-goddess maidservant. Sound familiar? This was well over 3,000 years before "Christ" was a gleam in a Jewish man-who-wanted-to-plagiarize-the-Elysian-mysteries-for-a-Jewish-version's eye...
The "bronze serpent on a staff" that "Moses" supposedly raised to cure the Israelites?? Look up the "Rod of Asclepius"...
The "twelve tribes" of Israel - that unaccountably shrank to only TWO tribes, later on? Look at the listing of the "animals" of the Israelite "twelve" tribes, and compare them to the astrological signs of the 12 months - especially the 12 CHINESE astrological signs...
I could go on and on, but why should I do your research for you?? Better hie thee to a library and start requesting books on the ancient PolyTheist belief systems - Inanna, Ishtar, Dionysus, Athena/Medusa, Baba Yaga, Mithra and Mithas, and so on...
Oh. Check out the "Code of Hammurabi", too... Just for comparison... Also the I Chin and the Tao Te Chin - not sure about the spelling on those last two...

I think the 2012 hype shows the power of movies. Before the movie came out no one thought about 2012 as a date. When you research the Mayan history they have other dates that go beyond 2012 so it really is just a made for viewers date.

Hey Zid, what part of my post made you think I did not think Christian's were belief whore or other faiths? Was it the part you quoted, that had me calling them belief whores. Apparently you did not get my idea or that I actually know what you are talking about. The whole religion is regional, in that the concepts and faiths were borrowed from other faiths and myths. Not sure how my post made you think otherwise, or that I might actually be enlightened in to seeing something I did not already know. I am not a Christian and as a Wiccan, I do not consider labels of Pagan, Occult, etc. To be insults. I see them as words that make a message simple and easy to get explained.

2012 is a 12 year cyclic peak sunspot plasma eject year which the worst in modern time was during the telegraph era the systems then got fried.
If this happens again the satellites and many electronics are gone.WORST every power line transformer will be bustedand will take two years to replace no jobs no electricity no power at gas station pumps no food refrigeration at supermarkets in North America.This would be apocalyptic indeed and the sunspot cycles happen every 12 years.One little burp from the sun totally fried the crude hardened old fashioned telegraph system a mere 140 years ago.
So if I predict *this end of the world* every twelve years some time eventually I will get it right on time.
Like with Y2K year 2000 this apocalyptic 2012 date will come and go what is good about it is it will saturate the public on doomsayers and I think will erode the WT credibility is already starting to.
