Now that you have discovered the "truth" is not the truth, do you still believe that a truth exists? Do you think you have found one, are you still searching or have you given up on the whole idea of an absolute truth?

I always think the question put in the mouth of Pilate by the Gospels is a good one:

"What is Truth ?" you first need to give us a clue as to what you are looking for ???

The true religion, nah, all religion (organized) is made by man for man.

The true God ? nah, He doesn't exist. Lots of false ones though. (Including the WT "Jehovah")

Other truth ? It exists but is never absolute as far as I can see. (Though I do love dear Boyzone's definition)

For example, it was true that a certain number of planets existed in the solar system in the early 20th Century, then they discovered Pluto, so the first number was true, and the second number, being plus 1, was also true.

So, what is "Truth" ?

I believe that it was a brilliant tactic of the WTBS to call their religion 'The Truth'.....thats what it was and is though...a tactic that has success.

Reasoning helps us know and understand some truth but not all the truth.

When we examined why we believed the Watchtower had the truth that leads to eternal life our reasoning helped us to understand that this simply not true.

When we go in search of truth, what exactly are we searching for? I.E. Proof of God's existence? Is it true that God exist's or does not exist, What does our reasoning tell us?

Each one of us is alone in this search for truth. Some have faith, not based on evidence, that they have found the truth about certain beliefs.

Some have used their reasoning ability and found that they have evidence concerning certain truths.

I.E. Looking at the natural creation and reasoning on how it all functions helps some to conclude that there is a creator ( not the Bible version ).

Others conclude that we just can't know the real truth about a creator. Still others say there is no God and that is their truth. Others live and die in their respective belief systems believing this is the truth.

Death anxiety plagues us all and so we need to latch on to something to get relief from this kind of anxiety of not knowing if there is life after death or nothing.

So we dig in and sometimes what we believed was the truth at any given time in our life changes as we experience life in the march toward our own end.

Just my thoughts I'm sharing, in search of truth.

"The truth" is a simple way of the Watchtower Society to group all their teachings, doctrines, and interpretation as well as copy of the scriptures. So by stating if we're still looking for 'the truth' I would hope for all of us the answer is no. I am not looking to the Watchtower Society for answers any longer.

However, do I believe 'everything' they taught is not 'true'? Of course not. But all that they taught that was 'true' can be found within many religions as well as non-religious organizations.

I do not believe any organization or person has 'the truth' (As defined by all teachings, doctrine, interpretation and understanding to be 100% right). Outside of Jehovah's Witnesses, Mormons and a few other groups/sects, very few will claim to have 'the truth' in the most simplest terms means to be right about everything. The Watchtower Society promotes that notion of being 'the truth'...It is Witnessoid speak (Hi, Mad JW); and its just a way to guilt, fear and control the masses.

Looking for the truth/answers to all the different ideas, notions, beliefs and teachings which the Watchtower Society covered over as 'the truth' would probably better be handled on a topic by topic basis.

I found the truth and it is very simple, since I still believe in the bible anyway, I found Jesus!

John 14:6 (ESV) Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."

It may not work for you, but it works for me, at least for now while I get my bearings on my new belief system.

Soldier77 has quoted it correctly when he/she quoted the words of Jaheshua: "I AM . . . the truth."--John 14:6. Can it get any plainer than that? To paraphrase:

'This means everlasting life, their knowing you, the only true God, AND of the one whom you sent forth, Jaheshua Mischajah." Do you want to know the truth or do you want to know the truth of things (take in knowledge of things)? Only you can answer that question.

Absolute Truth? I am on a never-ending search for inner peace and harmony, but not absolute truth.

There has to be an absolute truth- there is a god or there is not. We were seeded by aliens on this planet or we were not so. And so on and so on.

But it doesn't matter to me. I cannot prove things from a past that is gone. I discuss it on this forum and with individuals but it doesn't change subjective/objective truths today for individuals anyway. Discussion is wonderful. It's something we weren't really able to do as dubs. I love talking about karma and the big bang and a higher power maybe being out there. Big Foot and Neanderthals and primitive men- fantastic possibilities. Some of those may be solved to everyone's satisfaction one day, but I doubt it.

I am currently focusing on eastern thought without the religious part. Eastern thought focuses on accepting all points of view and taking the middle path of peace between all roads. It is philosophy that doesn't demand belief in something.
