Crayola Crayons...

Do you remember the excitement of a brand new box of Crayola Crayons? Running your fingers over the perfectly sharp tips, none broken or peeled. All 96 colors like flesh (now peach), indian red (now chestnut), periwinkle, goldenrod, green blue (now retired),lemon yellow (now retired), and new colors you may not know about such as Macaroni and Cheese, Purple Mountain's Majesty, Granny Smith Apple, and Pig Pink. Just the names are wonderful!

All in a handy box with a sharpener in the back. Nothing like the smell of new crayons to bring back a flood of memories.

My daughter (20 months old)loves to draw. We went to Wal-Mart yesterday & bought her first box of crayons. She got to pick them out and after 10 minutes and a big mess in the aisle, she settled on the 96 count with Metallic and Construction Paper crayons (who knew you needed special crayons to draw on construction paper). I don't know who was more excited about the purchase, her or me......*sigh* me! I should have bought my own box.

When we got home, I put her in her chair and gave her a pristine piece of white paper and the whole box of crayons. Her eyes were huge. " ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo " she said. She sat there for a second, picked up the box and dumped them all out. She's a genius, of course her creativity cannot be stifled by a box.

She began carefully picking colors out to create her masterpiece.
She grabbed the crayon in her left hand and intently made the first stroke. With her tongue stuck out and curled up over her lip, she selected one after another of the crayons.

    Below is the masterpiece:

After emailing this to Daddy at work, he said "Looks like a cow, two dogs, a cat and a car to me." Do you see them???? Yeah, me too.

This artwork is not for sale, but please keep in touch as she is going to be a famous artist one day :o)

BTW did you know you can create your own box of crayons with your own colors?? too cool! http://www.crayola.com/crayolastore/custom_box/index.cfm

I think this is a keeper! You should have it framed.
I framed my daughter's self portrait she did when whe was 6. Priceless.
What an awesome comment from dad.

Reminds me of a piece of art I saw at Neiman Marcus. (Seriously) It was scribbling on a crumpled piece of paper.

The paper was placed in an oversized frame with the paper’s edges exposed. The clearance from the paper’s edge to the frame was about four inches. The frame was a light colored wood with a glass covering about one inch above the surface of the drawing.

I think it would look great hung on your wall.
