I remember quite well.

Yes, I remember learning it as a child, though I don't remember where I was living at the time, but it was possibly Oceanside, California. I learned alot of different children's songs from around the world when I lived in California, and went to school on the Marine Corp base at Camp Pendleton...there were children there from everywhere...Marines stationed in different locations married the local women and the kids went to school on the base. I loved it there.
Syl, where the h@!l did that come from? Just what does go on in your head, woman?
I learned that song in kindergarten. I went to a private kindergarten and they even had a French teacher on staff to teach us French. When we graduated, we sang songs in five languages.
One of my teachers was the aunt of Jeff Foxworthy.
Loved that school.
My sister and I used to sing this song when we were children:

Oh how lovely is the Evening
Is the Evening
Is the Evening
When the bells are sweetly ringing
Sweetly ringing
Sweetly ringing
Ding dong
Ding dong
The melody which Mr. Titus introduced is used in a PSP game published recently.
