Guys... Can you believe this??? This is a current article available on the "Official Watchtower Web Site"!!!

"Do The Jehovah's Witnesses Believe that Their Religion is the Only True One??"

Heck, yeah!! No room for ANY other belief system, either in their JW families, among JW friends, or in their special little "New System"...

Some excerpts from the article - and it is a multi-topic, 'bulleted' article...

"Do the Witnesses believe that their religion is the only right one?
Anyone who is serious about his religion should think that it is the right one. Otherwise, why would he or she be involved in it? ..."

    Boy, they dodged THAT bullet...

    And...

"Do they believe that they are the only ones who will be saved?
No. Millions that have lived in centuries past and who were not Jehovah's Witnesses will come back in a resurrection and have an opportunity for life. Many now living may yet take a stand for truth and righteousness before the "great tribulation," and they will gain salvation. ..."

    Sneaky....

But the article goes on to say,

"Moreover, Jesus said that we should not be judging one another. ..."

(Yeah, like when they disfellowship at the drop of a hat...)

    And...

"We look at the outward appearance; God looks at the heart. He sees accurately and judges

mercifully. He has committed judgment into Jesus' hands, not ours..."

    Eeeewwww....

Wonder how long THIS thread will stay up...??

In the OP it was difficult which was direct quote from the website and which is editorial commentary.

In the interest of journalistic integrity - !! - here are the referenced direct quotes from the website cited in the Opening Post:

Do the Witnesses believe that their religion is the only right one?
Anyone who is serious about his religion should think that it is the right one. Otherwise, why would he or she be involved in it? Christians are admonished: "Make sure of all things; hold fast to what is fine." (1 Thessalonians 5:21) A person should make sure that his beliefs can be supported by the Scriptures, for there is only one true faith. Ephesians 4:5 confirms this, mentioning "one Lord, one faith, one baptism." Jesus did not agree with the modern, relaxed view that there are many roads, many religions, all leading to salvation. Instead, he said: "Narrow is the gate and cramped the road leading off into life, and few are the ones finding it." Jehovah's Witnesses believe that they have found it. Otherwise, they would look for another religion.—Matthew 7:14.

Do they believe that they are the only ones who will be saved?
No. Millions that have lived in centuries past and who were not Jehovah's Witnesses will come back in a resurrection and have an opportunity for life. Many now living may yet take a stand for truth and righteousness before the "great tribulation," and they will gain salvation. Moreover, Jesus said that we should not be judging one another. We look at the outward appearance; God looks at the heart. He sees accurately and judges mercifully. He has committed judgment into Jesus' hands, not ours. —Matthew 7:1-5; 24:21; 25:31.

ZIDDINA- Wow. Thanks for posting this. They are such liars. Makes me feel like posting that old Three Dog Night song " LIAR ! " LOL !

What con artists . And in the immortal words of Bugs Bunny - " What a maroon " JW's are for buying into it.

So the WT society tries to decoy newbie householders by stating that JW's DON'T believe they are the only ones who will be saved. Yet- Once a newbie gets baptized and joins the JW cult it is essentially ALL they are told - " If you leave the organization- you'll be destroyed at Armageddon ! " And they continue to be among some of the most judgmental people I've ever known ! LOL ! Each individual JW thinks he or she IS jehovah the Almighty . It's so weird yet normal to them - it's redundant. Good thread

    Ziddina, that's an old one.

In explaining this to those who are unfamiliar with JWs please point out the conditional phrase "have an opportunity for life". Since the resurrected ones will have to stop being Buddhists, Zoroastrians, and happy little pagans etc., that means that they are going to have to convert to the religion of the unresurrected ones.

So one way, or another, they either convert to the religion of the Jehovah's Witness (By whatever new name JWs would go by in the future) or they go back to being maggot food.

    Thanks, Flipper!!

I wasn't sure that this thread had any real merit; I'm no bible scholar and tend to stay away from bible discussions, but I just couldn't leave this particular instance of hypocrisy alone...

No one can deny that JW's are not cleaver at how the express themselves. If you as them at the door you will get much the same response. We were conditions to think and express ourselves in the exact same way.

It looks like the legal department has moved in with the writing department. Maybe this is what the bORG would call seasoned with salt.

There you go, the perfect response when JDubs ask you why you left the WTS and joined a different faith. "Jesus said that few are the ones finding the road to life and I am convinced that JWs aren't on the right path so I looked for another religion. Thank goodness I finally found the right path!"

This is very interesting to me because is all truth and despite the fact that many believe otherwise is intriguing to think about being in the only true religion while the whole world is lying in the power of the wicked one. In addition That is what makes all religions be under this ruler so to be in the only true religion would only be accomplished when God himself brings his heavenly rulership to earth.

I've been a JW's all my life and this view is only a personal view taken from publications out of context brought to some brother's mind and that in turn is transmitted into the whole congregation citing scriptures taken to identify the true religion but not as a whole group of people because that wouldn't stand up by itself is in our hearts if we follow jesus counsel in life we would no doubt be part of his congregation. There're also 2 sides of the coin depending who is flipping it he'll see it by a different angle this is due to the fact that is human reasoning brought to us we have to identify it as an upbuilding admonishment in our lives however not all of it is like that cause is just not right.

They some take great pride on this among themselves and is carry out to field service that mentality is not a humble one and it's been going on for decades. Well I sum things up as personal opinions the holy spirit of God which Jesus talk about before his ascension to heaven will help us in our hearts to know when something comes from God himself and would teach us what we need to do here on earth and no human can do that only jesus can lead us into his road no one else.
