At the end of the school year, this would play on KMRC 1430 AM, before school on my mother's radio while we had breakfast. I recall hearing the last day of school when I arrived home. This song reminds me of the joy of knowing school was ending and we'd be at the city pool and having New Orleans snoballs. Sometimes during the summer it would feel like everyone was out of town. (Now it makes me think of Charlton Heston in The Omega Man, lol.)

Thanks for clarifying the song verses the album, "Hot August Night". You are right. I like Neil Diamond for the simpllcity of most of his musical scores. Yet, they are so beautiful to listen to.
Also, "Morning Has Broken" by Cat Stevens. Very melodic, simple. The lyrics paints a picture of a beautiful Spring/Summer world in my mind.
