when i was a jw in 1970's here on the isle of wight UK, the ratio of jw's to local population was approx 1:300, whereas the "national" figure (then )was 1:850
i know lots of jw's over here who have left, so would think the apostasy ratio must be high.

Hello all,
I have been lurking here for a while now (probably over a year) and have been very blessed by the insight and sharing that everyone engages in. I have never been a JW, but do have a strong heart for them. I guess I would be considered an Evangelical, and have spent the past few years engaged with a number of local Witnesses, including one overseer, on a regular basis. It has been a pretty heartbreaking road, as I have been "blacklisted" from the discussions that have taken place with those members of the local congregation (we would meet for roughly 2-3 hours a week). For those of you who have become Christians, I would ask for your prayers for these beautiful (and lost) people.
Thanks, and I look forward to more discussions on this board!

I guess they had me at ... "you will gain fathers and mothers and sisters and brothers".
They came to my door and told many'different'stories, ...things I had only dreamed of, as being possible.
Oh yes, the Borg had me alright for a long time, until ... well here I am getting ahead of myself.
Hi, another Newbie here for you. Thanks for the welcome at the top. Getting started is a bit confusing.
I have been researching as never before and reading and digesting the words of all of you for the last 9 mths. Quite a revelation to say the least, and for the most ...a breaking apart of my guts and a falling to my knees in momentary disbelief and weeping bitterly as the scales fell from my eyes as I saw clearly for the first time in over 40yrs, .... the lies.

Welcome Clarity,
Yes, it is definitely a gut-wrenching experience when you realize the truth about the "truth". The process takes time, but you will find much support here.
