Ok, so earlier this summer at a DC I got to hear one of the GB speak. He used some odd terminology I had not heard before. He said this two or three times, so I mentally made note of it. He said "Jehovah's Witness, and "Friends of Jehovah's Witnesses".

Does anyone know what he might have meant by this? I mean, the official teaching is that anyone that is baptized is recognized as a JW. So the obvious conclusion is that anyone else would be studies or maybe those that associate to some degree or children of JW. But I couldn't help but think that he meant more by this. Could he have meant that ONLY annointed are "really" JWs and that anyone else, even if baptized are just "friends of JWs?

NO. The official teaching is that ONLY ANOINTED JWs are recognized as real JWs.

"abundant credentials" excuse me while I check out a few

    1) a constant list of failed and false prophecies that go back to well over 100 years from the occult driven CT Russel through to the alcoholic Judge Rutherford.

    2) an outright ban on organ transplants that saw many lose their lives thinking they were sinning against the holy spirit tens of thousands of kids have lost their lives right up until this present day while obeying the ban on blood

    3) This faithful and discreet slave along side the Governing Body covered up 2 members of this exclusive group Leo Greenlees and Ewart Chitty who as rampant active homosexuals sodomizing and abusing for decades in the House of Jerhoovah.

    4) This F&DS class up until a few years ago was a fully paid up member of the UN

    5) are still involved in a child abuse scandal that rocks them to the core world wide

    6) A dreadful case of double standards in regards to it's own brethren in Malawi and Mexico

not particularly abundant credentials I'm sure many would agree?

Actually, that's old light. Back in the 1950s and prior, the Watchtower made it clear that "other sheep" were not Jehovah's Witnesses. Here are a few quotes lifted from Blondie's WT summary:

    Jehovah’s witnesses and their companions

    *** w55 10/1 p. 608 Announcements ***

    *** w56 2/1 p. 96 Announcements ***
To be sure, all of Jehovah’s witnesses and their good-will companions will be active this month presenting from house to house a year’s subscription

*** w56 10/15 p. 640 Announcements ***In harmonious effort during November, Jehovah’s witnesses and persons of good will will present in house-to-house preaching

The phrase "Friends of...." is often used by all sorts of groups (religious, political, social, charities, etc) to denote "others" who are kindly disposed towards a specific group. So, I'd guess as the number of people affiliated with JWs grows (in contrast to the relatively declining numbers who become JWs or remain active witnesses) there'll be more justification to refering to a third group (Friends of JWs). Just a hunch. Who knows whether these old men speak knowingly on behalf of the collective GB or from their own narrow private off-the-cuff interpretations.

Nope. That is definitely not support by Watchtower publications.

    *** Watchtower, 2008 7/15 p. 3 par. 1 The House-to-House Ministry--Why Important Now? ***

IT IS a familiar sight in almost every nation on earth. Two neatly dressed individuals approach a house and endeavor to share with the householder a brief message from the Bible concerning God’s Kingdom. If he shows interest in the message, they may present Bible-based literature and offer a free home Bible study. Then they proceed to the next house. If you participate in this work, you likely find that people often recognize you as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses even before you begin to speak. Indeed, the house-to-house ministry has become our trademark.

    PROFILE

    NAME: ADRIAN PEREZ

    AGE: 30

    COUNTRY: MEXICO

    HISTORY: GANG MEMBER

MY PAST: When I was about 13 years of age, ...

I have been baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses for ten years now. I try hard to apply Bible teachings in my life. As a result, I am gaining the respect of my family. Now they know me as an industrious worker, and I have even been able to help them out financially. My mother started studying the Bible and has now become one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. My father is also making changes in his lifestyle. Most of my family are not Jehovah’s Witnesses, but after observing what happened with me, they acknowledge that the Bible can help a person to improve his life.
