P er the following defintion the JW's are definately creationists 1. the doctrine that matter and all things were created, substantially as they now exist, by an omnipotent Creator, and not gradually evolved or developed. 2. ( sometimes initial capital letter 
) the doctrine that the true story of the creation of the universe is as it is recounted in the Bible , esp. in the first chapter of Genesis. 3. the doctrine that god immediately creates out of nothing a new human soul for each individual born.
The WTS say they are NOT Creationists........

Resurrecting this to share what I heard at a JW memorial service recently.
Why the speaker felt the need to talk about creation in a funeral discourse, who knows but anyhoo...
...he specifically stated that Jehovah created the heavens and the earth and that earth existed millions of years and then Jehovah embarked on a 42,000 year plan to create various life forms, including man. - not a direct quote but pretty darn close to it-
If this 'brother' was using a WT sanctioned outline, then they're still holding to the 7,000 year creative days...but have given up the ghost on the belief that the earth itself has existed less than 50,000 years.
As I stated earlier in this thread...this belief flys against what the Bible says in Exodus where it says the heavens and earth were created in 6 days. They have really got themselves in a bind with this version. If you accept the WT version, then you can't accept Exodus. If you accept that Exodus, the Bible, is correct, then you can't accept the WT notion.
So which will a devout JW choose?

Wow! That certainly is not in the outline. Was the speaker an older guy?! I think with older witnesses the 7000 year is well and truly embedded, even though the WT seems to have quietly dropped references to this premise.

I suppose most Americans feel that a "Creationist" is someone who believes in the literal Six 24-hour days of creation. Other than disagreeing on that, they are fully creationists believing in the literal meaning of what is said in Genesis.
They are also Unitarians that use a Protestant Bible Canon. But I doubt they would say that is true either.
