    Terry your question borders on the stupifyingly-obvious: Why have all predictions about END TIMES been proved false? Because no such end has occurred. Duh!

    But wow what am amazingly detailed overview of the desperate gullibility of those who adhere to the Christian-inlfuenced religion! Has any other major religion besides Christianity been as obsessively hooked into the hysterical need to wish the world would end? The idiots who run the Watchtower are far from alone - there are sooooo many contemporary and historical Christian groups who have whipped up lots of fear and cash about the imminent end. My maternal and paternal grandparents alike peddled this stupidity from the 1920s and 1930s respectively - and individually went to their sorry earth-bound graves with it. I too will follow them one day - but at least I've divested myself of the need to childish Christian belief that the world and/or its system would end.

    Goes to show that fear can be capitalized on and be a vehicle in creating power and control to willing opportunists.

    Speculating on ignorance usually brings forth regrettable unfortunate results.

    dear Terry...

    you said: "We all use the same Bible (translation notwithstanding) and reference the same scriptures."...

    For Tophet was established of old,
    yes, for the king it is prepared.
    he has made it deep and large;
    its pyre is fire with much wood;
    the breath of the LORD, like a stream of brimstone,
    kindles it. (isaiah 30:33)

    using inductive, deductive and abstractive reasoning...can I deduce you're like "molek" leading the "children" to the place of cremation?

    The Universe is random, therefore any prediction which comes true is just a lucky guess come good.

    The 70CE "prophecies" were written after the event. The ones about Jesus were made to fit by "Matthew" and others.

    All End-Time stuff is nonsense, apart from the estimate as to when the Sun burns out perhaps.

    Christianity gives you NOTHING. That's right, nothing.

    You get struck on the cheek and you pony up for the other slap.

    Your pray for the enemy who wants you face down in the mud with his heel on your neck.

    The path of christian righteousness is strewn with the corpses of ascetics who gave up everything in life but misery and hope that the next life would be better.

    Apostle Paul tells fellow christians to take up their cross knowing how excruciatingly torturous a devout follow of Christ will find the journey.

    Why? Because Christianity gives you NOTHING........except pie in the sky bye and bye!

    dear Terry...

    you're very prophetic...does it surprise you that God's "will" be done?...

    Then the fourth angel poured out his bowl on the sun, and power was given to him to scorch men with fire. And men were scorched with great heat, and they blasphemed the name of God who has power over these plagues; and they did not repent and give Him glory. revelation 15:8-9

    I am not sure the Y2K problem counts as a failed prophecy. I spent 2 years working on the problem for a major bank toward the end of the 90s and there was a lot of repair work needed. If the financial industry (at least) had simply ignored it I think the consequences may have been severe. But probably not the end of the world lol .

    Funny thing, Terry, but I really believe in the things Jesus taught. (whether you think they're made up or not). I'm not wasting anything.

    Oh and.. end times failing - it is not for us to know the times and dates. Jesus said that too. Trying to predict them, then, seems to be showing a lack in trust for what Jesus said.
