Try this. If you wait until it loads the image is at the bottom of the page, it's the 2 cartoon angels. Or click full size image at the top.

Without the arguing between them, perhaps. I know that if I forgive someone who has hurt me, but hope they aren't in heaven if I am (whatever you believe heaven to be), then I haven't really forgiven them, and I am still judging them.
I try to leave judgment to God, since he knows what's in their hearts/minds/experiences that have shaped or warped them - as well as whether or not they are repentant.

Well, unfortunately for the rapist/murder, it doesn't work that way at all.
God's forgiveness comes from repenting and with repenting comes atonement, people seem to forget that part.
We are asked to forgive those that wrong us becuause, well, in thelong run it is far healthier to live a loving life then one full of anger and spite and the first step to love is forgiving those that have wronged us, it is the first step in the healing process.

We are also asked to forgive others... because we, ourselves, will want to be forgiven for our wrongs. (so we're not hypocrites or without mercy) I think the healing process is a natural consequence of forgiveness.

While I don't accept that it "works" that way, I also don't mind that people eventually want to seek forgiveness.
Sometimes, it isn't until they are facing death. If there were a god that could read minds and intentions, of course he would know if that begging for forgiveness were genuine.
