Attendees don't tend to be drop-outs, druggies and losers (it's expensive and takes creativity to attend!!) - more like mostly professional people exploring different ways of living for a few days. To be honest I think you're fortunate to have Burning Man on your doorstep.
Oh my, a real live Gerlachian!
I attended the 1998 burn. It is something unique to be experienced, has very surreal qualities to be there for 5 days. Definitely not for everyone.
