Question on Case of a Form of Abuse

I am not sure if this is some kind of abuse, child abuse maybe?

There is a case where a daughter is being "tormented" (as she describes) by her mother because she is slacking in her spiritual activities. It has been increasing and she is deeply disturbed by it. Her mother has been quoting scripture to threaten (severe warning) her of doomed, ruin and condemnation if she doesn't change course (to be as devout as her mother), in addition to actually threaten her of violence.

As a result, the daughter as exhibited exasperration and wishing to leave being JW as soon as she could.

What are the legal issues and/or considerations, if any, involved in this case?

Are there any resources that this poor child could use or resort to, just in case?

Where is the father? Can she have him seek custody of her?

You mentioned she was being "threatened" with abuse....is this child here in the US??

Like jamie asked, where is the father?

    How old is the child?

I like to know the general case.

But for this case, the father is a non-believer. He is living with the JW mother.

I think the child is going to be legally an adult (21?) next year.

If you're in the US, the age of legal adulthood is 18.

Don't you just love it when people (Christians in this case) push Christ asside and sit upon his throne and start judging everyone else around them. And what is their mesuring rod, themself.

A bit off track but there is a small sceen in Disneys - The Emperor's New Groove where the emperor is out so his advisor sit on the throne and starts holding court. The emperor returns and says, "your doing it again" and the advisor starts trying to explain that she is only "helping". It is cute but I always think about self-rightous people when I see that.

I apologize if I misunderstood you. I don't know who you really are but you sound like a WT loyalist.

Be aware that there are JW reformists that you may consider to join.

You sounded like me a decade ago. You will be fortunate if you keep your blissful state, and Bible principles are 100% applicable in everything.

The fact of life is people are different, they may change for go good or bad. Organizations change too.

After reviewing my previous post, I apologize to all especially carvin. This demonstrates how much I distrust WT after suffering too many betrayals.

I regret the previous post. I realize that we are all entitled to express our thoughts fairly.

Lesson learned: - Instead I should either have tried to clarify with carvin or simply do not comment.

Now, moving on I need to add some thoughts to this discussion:

The child (I spoke to) was apparently misled by someone (perhaps the mother, or elder who advised the mother). I did not do my facts homework before saying what she said to me.

She is either duty bound to her mother or the emotional mother-daughter bond is very strong. I guess things will have to remain the same until circumstances change.

    Any additional thoughts?
