I value the lives that embryonic stem cell research can potentially save.

The article is from February 2010.
Justitia,
There have been developments since February 2010.

They created six new lines from aged cells.
The study documents, for the first time, that aged human cells can be rejuvenated.
Much of the media has been totally off on this subject. A corner, however, has been turned.
We know that telomere shorten as cells repeatedly reproduce. We know that this has SOMETHING to do with aging, but scientist are a long way from the answer. They do NOT know if this a causation or correlation.
Telomere length is a proxy for cellular age. We know that telomeres shorten with mitosis. We also know why. We also know an enzyme which rebuilds them. Cancer cells, for example, become immortal through telomerase activation. There is a very clear link between telomere length and the age of a cell line.
If you had read the article, you would have discerned that adult stem cells are giving scientists fits in that they are not proving capable of reproducing at the rate of embryonic stem cells. As the one scientist said, this spells "death" to their experiments.
I did read the article. Adult stem cells are giving some scientists fits. I happen to know some of the ones that aren't going into fits, because they have solved the problem.
There are telomerase transcribing genes that can be activated in adult derived cells, which then rebuild the length of the telomere.
Telomerase production has already been shown to prevent cell death. The cell line, in essence, is "rebooted." This has been demonstrated in peer reviewed literature more than once.

No need to do a victory dance. This stuff is not generally known yet. Most revolutionary science isn't recognized as such until it is in the rear view mirror. I am just very, very lucky to be have the opportunity to help get the word out in my work. I have to pinch myself sometimes.
If you guys want to learn a little bit more about Robert Lanza, he is a very deep thinking fellow.

For all of our sakes, I hope you DO have inside information and that you ARE right.
But...would someone tell me what "FTW" stands for?
