Did you ever know any JW's/Pioneers who frequented popular nightspots and got drunk?

There was this 'holier then thou' family where all 3 of the girls (ages 17-23) were 'regular pioneers' and loved BRAGGING about it! They hailed from NY (thinking they sat at the right hand of God I guess) would look down on some of the other young sisters who either didn't put as much time in, didn't pioneer, or weren't in their 'clicque'. Anyways, these girls basically SHUNNED me way before I was even DF'd because they saw me out with worldly folk...hahahaha...and because I went to the elders on thier brother (for hitting on me inappropriately). As these fake-ass chicks usually do, they thumbed their nose and gossiped about me after I was DFd. But about 6 mos out, I was at a club with a date, and WHO is there but a bunch of JW 'pioneers' these girls included. Droppin it like it's HOT...drinks in the hand...shakin it ON some random guys there!!!!! They kept trying to avoid me, but I made SURE they saw me and knew I saw THEM. Needless to say they ran out the club quick...

Anyone that has lived at bethel can confirm this: Bethelites LOVE their booze. Since we didn't have holidays and were largely kept separate from the real world, we would celebrate in other ways. Gilead graduation was one time. We had an extra 45mins for lunch. So everyone would go to room parties and get drunk then go back to work. I learned all about drinking at bethel. One party was a "boiler maker" party and everyone was trashed. The booze that flows in bethel is crazy. But it's all part of the culture. Judge Rutherford was known to illegally smuggle alcohol from the Canadian branch during the prohibition era. He was a raging alcoholic and notorious for his drunken outbursts. The bethelite apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

Ive posted this before and it's something I'm not too proud of but I actually gave a public talk after 6 shots of Vodka. (I had already left mentally)

One of my buddies said I smelled like booze and I blamed it on my gum (Dentine Ice).

Funny thing is I drink far less now than Im out.

Alcohol is the only vice and way for many to cope. I have seen more drunk JW than worldly people at clubs, social events, weddings, etc. If the GB came out with an abstain policy like the Mormans, there would be rebellion, massive revolt. They love the booze so much at Bethel that it flows from the water taps. More booze, wine and beer are drank than water. I have seen Bethel elders so smashed that they blacked out and didn't know what hit them. It is a terrible double standard that gets swept under the rug. The articles about 1 glass of wine, 1 drink before driving and the like, are basically ignored. "I will cover it up for you, and I expect you to do the same". Hypocrites! Jesus sees it all, and you will have a double accounting!

Yup! I spent the better part of the 90's clubbing with a group of dubs including pioneers, MS and elders. I remember attending a going away party for a bethelite at a club, LOL. Back then, it was very common in my area for dubs to the club or tavern. The thought was that as long as you stuck with the group you came with, it was cool.

we would buy beer, pot, and a bottle of JD and go out drinking almost every weekend (PO kids, pioneers, and me).

Nobody in the hall ever knew, we were the absolute hypocritical religious people.

Funny how most of them are now df'ed, and divoriced.

I knew two pioneers who went to a local hotel room together and got drunk and......(oh, la - la)! Went on for a few years, until the female pioneer "fessed up" to the elders out of her guilt. Instead of offering counseling and helping the young woman, the elders used her confession against her to make her feel further guilty and shameful. When this all started, she was underaged, but the male pioneer wasn't.

Anyway, she became a good JW . . . for a few weeks . . long enough to take a recently divorced elder to a local bar/dance club and inform him she had no skivies under her dress. They were immediately married; and she then had the hots for an old high school flame who was an MS by this time. I don't know what all happened there, but her and the elder have been officially married for years. But, something tells me he is no longer an elder. Seems he has tattoos all over his body.

She shuns me. Wish I had done some of the fun things she did when I was younger. I was in college, studying my butt off.

I only knew a couple who would go out and drink in pubs/bars/clubs, but I knew plenty of young people who would get together and drink at home, at the beach, in the woods, at the drive-in, etc. I was in a circle like that for a brief period of time. I think most Witnesses are scared of the club scene due to being so socially-stunted, so that never seemed to hold much appeal, at least in my area/circle.

Only once did I see them at a bar or club. It was a Thursday night at Rich's in downtown Houston. I had quit the meetings and was at the club with my gf. As we were dancing, I saw a two regular pioneers, a presiding overseer's daughter, two elders' daughters and a ministerial servant. One of the pioneers (a guy) had a clip-on earring (at this time I was ballsy enough to pierce my ears) and the girls, well, they were hard to differentiate from the rest of the crowd. When they saw me, the immediately made a bee-line for the upstairs dance floor. So, grabbing my gf's hand, I introduced her to them. The tension was, well, palpable. Because I'm no rat, I didn't feel it necessary to "report" them. I also didn't feel angry at the hypocrisy. These were kids RAISED in the Organization, so there was never really any choice as to what they would do. I don't blame them. (But I could tell by the deer-in-headlights-look from all they were worried I would snitch.)
