THE FAITHFUL and DISCREET SERVANT VS THE GOVERNING BODY OF JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES

To moshe as far as I am concerned I believe the Bible shows us that the Holy Spirit dwells within the body of Christ and there is no uncertainty for individual Christians.

I don't believe this at all. The only assurance Christians have are anecedotal, unconfirmed and differing Jesus stories from almost 2000 years ago. Churches don't even agree on "once saved, always saved" or, if "good works" are needed for salvation. Go to 100 churches and ask what is needed to be saved and you will get many differing answers. If God knows all, then a person's salvation is already preordained (as some churches teach), so in reality there is no personal choice involved at all, which is a paradox of sorts.

Hi moshe I do sympathise with how you feel we must remember that I too had been a JW for over thirty years and we are both victims of a terrible tragedy a large chunk of our life has been misdirected. What I have gained is experience and discipline so not everything is entirely wasted. At the moment perhaps the difference between us is I did not want to throw out the baby with the bath water.

Although I was determined to retrieve whatever relationship I thought I had with my God I was perplexed as where else to go, as the JWs had demonised every other Christian faith I am sure you can relate to that. You are right though, many Churches throughout the world haven't got their act together and are still stuck in the reformation, but what I have come to understand is the body of Christ or the Church is individuals made up of various nominations, they may not always agree with what is going on in their individual Churches, the point I am trying to make is that many Christians today although may be members of their Church, put their relationship with God the doctrine of Christ the apostles and prophets first without fear of being shunned by their fellow worshippers.

This may seem like a paradox but we are talking about true unity not JW uniformity but true Christian freedom.

Hi moshe just another point that I missed concerning that there is no uncertainty for Christians, I was particularly talking about the Bible's doctrine of Gods creative power, his redemptive power by means of Christs sacrifice and the forgiveness of sins through his shed blood. These doctrines are indisputable among Christians, they may differ about some details but on the whole it is essentialy the same. During the reformation Christians knew about Justification and grace not works alone would save us and many were put to death for it but were still very much bogged down by sectarianism and religion itself, and many Churches are still like that today. This will not effect their salvation but it can block the Holy Spirit from moving on from traditionalism, but at some time God will move them on.

On the other hand when you get on the subject of once saved always saved predestination and certain prophecies many other epistemological studies, that is not what is essential for salvation these details will be revealed in time. We can allow ourselves to speculate but not get bogged down thinking this is what will save our life.

In the NWT translation it says in John 17 v 3 'There taking in knowledge of you' The NIV says not 'knowledge' that will save us but 'knowing him' , having extensive Bible so called knowledge is not what will save us but truly 'knowing him that was sent' will. Putting faith in his sacrifice.

A quick point about predestination we must remember that as humans we live in linear time, and in four dimentions the fourth one being time. Scientists and governments have spent billions of dollars on searching for black holes, dark matter, and cosmic strings. Their conclusion is that they know for certain there exists at least ten dimensions, something that one particular Rabbi in the middle ages a hebrew scholar his name [his name alludes me at the moment] could have saved the scientists billions of dollars by reading his documentations he calculated in his writings that there were at least ten dementions. Obviously like any theory proof is always needed. The point is though scientists have no problem believing in a multi-dimentianal universe and that time itself is fluid and is not constant.

So anything is possible with God. Linear time has no meaning for him only for us, for he does not live in our time frame. WOW

Well moshe RosePetal has gone to bed and I am drinking my ovaltine, [ I am living in England] my brain hurts and I've got a big day at work tomorrow.

Yeah, the WT has essentially admitted in writing they really don't have a clue what the hell they're talking about. That does not stop them from insisting on absolute and unwavering trust and obedience.

Damned if I can figger it out...

And yeah, teaching a kid things that literally make them fearful of things like certain cartoon characters and pastries IS a form of child abuse IMHO.
