nice song indeed!
That song has a powerful message - what does it mean to find "me" when all of your searching out there has left you feeling empty?
what is it that inspires you about this song?

For songs, not only Lyrics but the melody is always important, I think.
I think that this song has a beautiful melody.
Well, in Japanese Lyrics, this song is singing a "woman's happiness." (That is different from English Lyrics.)
Therefore, in Japan, that song is often used at the "wedding."

possible-san... I do so enjoy your posts. I have always enjoyed this song but it does bring some sadness to my heart.
I think the phrase "I've Never Been To Me" is sad and lonely. The song is about a life filled with experiences that have never truly touched this woman. It's as if she never found her 'way' or path; that she is running from something that she really can't see or define.
I see this among JWs... they are not allowed to feel and experience wonderful things because it is all from Satan and you can't trust your own feelings. And all you should be doing is going out in field serve-us. So sad.
The Charlene remake is right in there with Muskrat Love, Seasons in the Sun, Having My Baby, and many other of the worst songs ever.
Hi, Heaven

Thank you for the comments.
Heaven.
I agree with your explanation one by one.
Especially, the part "you can't trust your own feelings."
The part which you pointed out is just the greatest defect/flaw of the religion of Jehovah's Witnesses.
Well, interestingly, in the Japanese language, a "nerve/sensitivity" (shin-kei) is written as a "channel of God" using the kanji.

Therefore, our nerve gets sick (nervous breakdown, nervous disease) when we give priority to "the opinion of the Governing Body" over "our own feelings", IMO.

When I lisen to the japanese version the music does sound lovely. However, the english lyrics are distracting because I don't entirely agree with them.
The song could be interpreted many ways but to me it seems rather "this or that" life is different for each person its a path of discovery and yes you make mistakes but you look forward.
this song seems to say a wild free life is a disaster and you should have married and had a family. I don't necessarily agree. LIfe is a mixed bag and I did lots of crazy stuff in my youth and I don't regret it yes I'm married now but no children which I'm glad for I didn't want them and still don't.
Happiness is a process of learning and growing however you get there. the watchtower org stifles people and trys to take away your life for those born in its one way for those of us who chose for a while its another way.
.
I'm not really trying to bad mouth this song it just affected me in an unpleasant way.
Even though it's Charlene's song I like Randy Crawford's version better...not as sappy.
