Bump for OTWO - only because I remember what you said about WHY you would no longer look for God to help you. In truth, you are the first person I thought of when I read this thread - though the message certainly applies to us all.

Bumped for djeggnogg and the like,
ain't eggnogg a holiday drink, it's only sold in stores during CHRISTMAS,
he just as bad as Alice, why do these apologist pick names and avatars
that represent the things they are supposed to be against?
Their very presence here goes against what they claim to represent.... so their names are well chosen. ;)
Their very presence here goes against what they claim to represent.
True, the irony never seems to strike them though, does it?
It reminds me of the Islamic Fundamentalists demonstrating in Europe's streets and using the freedoms of democracy to condemn democratic freedom and call for Sharia law and the beheading of dissenters.
Thankfully though, Watchtower loyalists not are claiming we deserve to be beheaded - just to be shunned by our family and everyone we ever knew and to have our "bowels poured out like manure" (or suchlike) as we are savagely butchered by God at Armageddon and condemned to eternal death, while the JW's - whose eyes will not feel sorry - argue over who gets which of our houses.
The Time Is At Hand by Charles Taze Russell was released in 1889 and the Bible translations you claim match Jesus' words verbatim were assembled afterward; out of sync with the original Greek renderings:
The American Standard Version (ASV), is a version of the Bible that was released in 1901.
The first edition of the Amplified Bible n was published in 1965.
The English Standard Version (ESV) is an English translation of the Bible. It is a revision of the 1971 edition of the Revised Standard Version.
The World English Bible (also known as WEB) is a public domain translation of the Bible that is currently in draft form. Work on the World English Bible began in 1997 and was known as the American Standard Version 1997.
The point in Luke 21:8 that should be conveyed is obvious, but matching data objects with "code language" is not the admonishment.
As for Jesus' statements rendered from the original Greek words in the New Testament, they reveal a finite time frame: Luke 21:8

So, you're not agreeable that the 20th and 21st century have vindicated Jesus' words as gospel truth. If Jesus words are reflective of truth period, you should enlighten before denying the observations of others.
Jesus himself allegedly said the end was coming within the generation he was speaking to, and all the apostles believed they would live to see the end, so something besides the Watchtower is amiss here, and I suspect its the Bible itself. It was old writings revised and put together at the Nicene Council to keep the masses in constant fear, and its still working like a charm. Thankfully more and more people are realizing that this dastardly book was not written by God but by priests who were simply in the "sin" business.

Alice,
Thank you for those red herrings.
Now please clarify:
1. Did Jesus or did he not warn that during the last days, persons would falsely lay claim to the title of the Christ?
2. Did Jesus or did he not instruct us to DISBELIEVE any such claims?
At that time if anyone says to you, 'Look, here is the Christ!' or, 'There he is!' do not believe it. For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and miracles to deceive even the elect—if that were possible. (Matt 24:23,24 NIV)
