Your article states the falsehood:
the Jews were back in their homeland when the Seventy year period of foretold desolation ended
To which Alwayshere correctly replied:
IT WAS NEVER FORTOLD THAT JERUSALEM WOULD BE DESOLATED 70 YEARS. watchtower is lying and so are you.

Wait...what did I miss? Jerusalem was never fortold to be desolated 70 years?!? What about Jeremiah 25:11? Or are you just saying that they would serve for 70 years, which makes sense...
However, Daniel 9:2 says that Jerusalem would be desolated for 70 years, right?!? It says: "I, Daniel, understood from the Scriptures, according to the word of the LORD given to Jeremiah the prophet, that the desolation of Jerusalem would last seventy years."
What am I missing?

Jeremiah said "these nations" would serve Babylon, meaning all of the nations that he specifically mentioned. He didn't mention desolation at all.
Daniel may have understood the prophecy to mean "desolation" but that doesn't mean he was correct. Jeremiah said what he said and he didn't say desolation of Jerusalem.
That said, you know my stance on the strict accuracy of the Bible, so I probably shouldn't go farther in this sort of debate. I am sure someone else can make this case much better than I anyway.

I'm not defending the WT or anything. But doesn't the bible say it would be desolated for 70 years in Daniel 9:2? So why believe Jeremiah over Daniel? I think Carl Oolof Johnson provided a pretty good timeline for how it could've been "desolated" for 70 years and still fit into the Bible.
But I'm getting closer to your point of view Mad Sweeny...

BROTHERDAN, YOU ARE MISSING THE "S" in DANIEL 9:2. desolationS not desolation. Jeremiah 25:11 "These nations shall serve the King of Babylon 70 years." 2CHRONICLES 36:20 shows they served him (NEB.) and his sons until the reign of the kingdom of Persia. The reign of PERSIA BEGAN IN 539. JEREMIAH 29:10 "after 70 years be accomplished AT Babylon I will visit you and perform my good word toward you, in causing you to return to this place." Jehoiakim began to rule in 609. 609-539=70 years.

I get what you are saying Alwayshere. The NIV bible I was looking at said "desolation" not plural. I'll have to look up NASB and NKJ.
I agree with the viewpoint. I think 607 is an erroneous date. I just see that it specifically says that JERUSALEM would be desolated for 70 years. But I can totally see that it can mean the PEOPLE of Jerusalem serving Babylon instead of JUST speaking of the actual city.
