Did being raised a JW give you a higher moral code?

JW version of a 'high moral code' is a superficial, no sex outside of marriage. I do not recall the word 'ethical' ever being defined. It was all just 'no touchy' and make sure those singles have a chaperone. So much enphases was put on fornacation and pornea that is where our minds went, simple body function. We were not taught to develope our minds let alone a ethical code of conduct. Just do your job, don't ask questions, don't cause a scene unless they ask you to give blood. Any place you work is going to be a den of Satan worshipers so just keep to yourself, don't rock the boat unless they are manufacturing light bulbs for the military, well then you are going to have to quit, get married at 17, pioneer and let you husband figure out how to pay the rent by washing windows.

I worked in an art gallery when I first learned the word 'plagiarism'. The gallery director taught me more about ethical behavior in life and relationships than 40yrs of being a JW ever had.

By no means. Being raised to believe that the most high, most righteous, most holy and loving was a mass murderer, did in any way influence my morals.

After I learned about (and was a victim of) JW / WTS hypocrisy, I have been known to say that I left the JWs because they no longer met my standards.

I think most people would agree that they value truth, honesty, integrity, etc. as markers of ethics and morality. And I also think that most JWs are JWs because they have been led to believe that the WTS values those things above all else. Not being permitted to examine contradictory evidence without some kind of punitive measures being taken against those JWs, they are limited in their ability to dig too deeply. But when someone finally does decide to look beyond the self-aggrandizing bull$h!t in the Publications™, it is certainly possible to come to the realization that the WTS as a whole misses the mark of truth, honesty, integrity and ethical behaviour by a country mile.

That's when people get pissed off, and that's when people feel a deep sense of betrayal of their trust.

"I have been known to say that I left the JWs because they no longer met my standards."

I still say people who "do the right thing" because they feel they have to, are far inferior than those who choose to do the right thing because it is right.

Given that and the absolute lack of any detail worth answering, I herewith give my response:

No, it didn't. It violated my natural moral code by not lifting a finger for the hungry and poor and others in need.

It violated what I considered natural, like masterbation and sex without the so called "benefit" of marriage.

It violated my natural love for people when I had to hate them cuz JH said I had to.

It turned me into a judgmental, self-righteous bitch.

I'm much more moral now than I ever was as a JW.

Paganism has taught me how to love and respect others and the universe.

It doesn't get any more moral than that.
