Does screaming "Oh God" count as glorifying him?

Those scenes are not always so farfetched. I have experienced some euphoric moments in my life, and trust me, they were better than just reading about them!

I once had a girlfriend who read the book "Shanna". I lost track of the number of arguments we got into because she kept comparing me to the book's 'hero' Ruark who could command ships, kill dozens of pirates, and still find time to fuck 6 times a day, no matter how many abuses she heaped upon him.

    Yes, I dumped this girlfriend.

Romance novels are porn for women and just like porn men watch, it too is unrealistic.

I write romance novels - usually combined with any other genre (sci-fi, fantasy, horror, etc.). I haven't written for more than a year, partly because of this very question, after studying with witnesses. (As a side note, and just so everyone knows, there are many romance novels that do not have sex in them at all.)

But people have thanked me for giving them a much needed break from troubles in their lives. An escape, even knowing it isn't realistic, but something to laugh about or get excited about, or to take their minds off their problems for a little while. No different than watching a movie, or playing a video game, or reading any other kind of book.

Romance novels also reduce stress - with or without the sex. You KNOW that there is going to be a happy ending, so while you can get caught up in all the excitement of the story, you know that everything will turn out good in the end.

Problems arise, I think, when young people read them and think that's the way reality and men should be. But again, that's no different than superhero comics and war movies, etc. So if romance novels are out, then so is most of the entertainment industry. But sometimes... well, people really do just need a few hours break with an adventure in someone else's life. Sometimes on someone else's planet :)

My former mother in law (JW elders wife) would read them with a voracious appetite!

If not at a meeting or cooking, she would be consumed with them.
