Oklahoma City, early 1980. Last assembly, & last meeting ever. Walked in late, all by myself.

Saturday morning, the usual droning talk going, usual smell of hamburgers frying.

I just couldn't do it any more - never even sat down. Got back in my Corvette, burned out and drove home, and watched TV cartoons the rest of the morning. Flew some radio control airplanes that afternoon.

    I was free.

I went to a day of a Grand Boasting Session in 2001, wearing headphones that were pretending to be recording the program (and hidden by that others were using headphones to pay attention). Mine were playing music off of tapes, including filthy rap.

Thanks for all your responses. I have to add that we only ever attended in the mornings, we couldn't cope with a whole day.

On one occasion I remember going back to our hotel, changing into normal clothes, having lunch then going into the cinema in the afternoon where we saw De Vinci code, laughing thinking of all those poor sods still listening to the talks.

Um...the last assembly was the last assembly I went to. But we too never make it for the entire day. It's impossible with 2 kids.

Dammit! We will never be on an assembly part now!

1988, Fresno Ca. Went with my mother. Wore a gorgeous sundress that I made (I still have the pattern - it's a beautiful dress) and no pantyhose (too hot in Fresno for pantyhose). Was bored out of my mind and got shunned by my cousin and her friends (awkward ).

June 2006, Colorado D.C. Sat at the top of the stadium and read the book 'Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance'. I had completely checked out mentally at this point. I checked out physically that Sunday afternoon when I finished the book.

Good grief to all you assembly slackers ! That's why we had all those reminder talks to stay until the conclussion of the sessions !

.......had I only known then what I know now

I went to every assembly for the full time . Even when we had three little ones we were there early for husband to work sound or first aid and stayed late to help clean .......ahhhhhh , what alot of wasted time
