Can You Now Clearly See That You Were In A Cult?

Yes, I recognize it as a cult now. But the thing about cults is - nobody knows when they are in one. The mind control obviously extends to making you unaware that you are mind controlled. LOL. So, it does take a while to realize. It's a very strange feeling. It's like a fog slowly lifts from your mind. You literally can't understand how you once believed and accepted the things you once did, as it's so obvious - now - that they were bogus.

Brainwashing, mind control, are very real things and can only really be fully understood retrospectively.

    Yes!

Ding- Thank you for those good points- so very true.

Minimus, essan and mimimimi- I agree 100%.

I could not see it as a cult while I was in it. There were a lot of things wrong, I saw more and more as the years went by. Being away from the meetings and discovering this site opened my eyes to what the WTS really is and I thank everyone on this board for helping me to see how things really are. JWs are a mind controlling cult. It's sad and difficult to deal with it. But it has become so much clearer. And especially with the bold statements the GB keep making in The Watchtower. The Sept. 15 WT was unbelievable. They just keep getting worse and worse. I deeply regret having been in that deceitful cult for most of my adult life.

It's a cult, I see it as a dying cult as they still hold 1914 and they have no control over the internet. But when your in as factfinder said I also couldn't see it as a cult, like your blinded.

I can deffinitely see I was in a cult.

But I also see that all religions that I have examined are missleading.

I see the bible is missleading.

    I see theism is missleading.

I see that atheism is missleading.

It's like John Lennons song, God,

All I have to believe in is me.

NOw the dreams over and reality kind of sucks.

At times you can kind of be jealous of the simpletons who are still stuck in the tower,

especially the ones who are living well and happy. The kingdom belongs to the little children.

I knew a long time ago when I took the red pill,

that my brain and conciousness was like the elastic in a pair of fruit of the loom underwear,

once its stretched out of shape there is no coming back.

Nobody thinks they are in a "cult." Cults are considered as mind-control, ignorant, non-thinking, totally wierd, people. I about choked the first time I stuttered that JWs were a cult. I just was sure I was smarter than that. It was humiliating to come to such terms. Took time. Now I state it all the time.

Oh yes, definitely. Like Essan said- the problem is when we are INSIDE the cult we don't know we are IN a cult at the time. It's like being in the eye of a hurricane - always calm in the middle , can't see the storm brewing. But after I got OUT of the JW cult - I was able to have access to information I didn't have while inside - and it became clear to me after reading Steve Hassan's books on cult mind control that yes indeed, Jehovah's Witnesses had all the earmarks of a cult. Glad I found out- even if it was AFTER I left the cult

After I realised The Watchtower Society was 'The False' not 'The Truth' It took me 2 months to see that it was a CULT! A dangerous controlling cult at that too, a bunch of old farts in NY telling us how to live & how to die.

I really believe that the GB are just like the Rank and File, duped men themselves.

I agree, I think they really believe they are the chosen ones. Ray Franz proved that, he believed it all, then he woke up, which in turn has helped many JWs 'wake up' as well once they read his awesome books!

    Thank you deeply Ray

I now know that it was in fact a bunch of rules, often made solely so that people would not find out that they don't even abide by the Bible.
