I hear the music of the Sea and her companion Sky. These luxuriant and melodic airs waft along the water's surface, carrying me effortlessly unto the azure expanse in an upward spiral whose magical transport I had believed attainable only through the office of a lengthy night's dream. Yet, I am fully awake, cognizant that, surely, this is neither apparition nor a conjurer's trick. Dialogue between an alternating crescendo and decrescendo of liquid waves and gentle but persisting zephyrs of earth's vault: this is a strange enchantment, music uncommon to once earthbound ears. Earlier, at the seashore, whence I've come, I marveled at the combined voices of Nature; they were delightful yet scarcely the ethereal bewilderment to my senses that now shivers my soul as I am borne higher, higher into the supernal realm beyond what eyes and ears of flesh behold....

Do not expect me home any time soon.

    Tee hee hee.

As I awakened from my fragrant bed of pine needles, the taste of tandoori chicken and mango lassi still in my mouth, I raised my arms toward the sky in a gesture of benediction and supplication.

Who or what decreed such soul-stirring amenities as found in this place? A brook gurgled gently as its currents flowed over rocks and fallen logs. The stately pines whispered soft secrets to each other. The hickory trees reminded me of sentinels, standing with folded arms, daring any to breach their instructions. The ancient, gnarled oaks simply were.

A soft zephyr breeze caressed my cheeks and ruffled my hair as I cleared away my lunch stuff, noticing how the ants were already picking up the little crumbs and marching them to their nests. Sighing deeply, and with a last look-around at my favorite spot, I set out for home ...

The Sea is my mother, my father the Sky.

Both are eternal and vast, each in their way. As I rise slowly yet inexorably from my mother's protective embrace, I reach toward Father, my life-giver, now become my mentor. He draws me up as spiraling vapor whose aspect is phantom-like yet, nevertheless, possessing true substance.

Under the aegis of Sky, I will harness my chariot to Sister Wind and travel Earth's four corners, showering my bounty upon her children. They will laud me; they will offer me prayerful thanks. However, I will look upward toward Father and downward toward Mother, seeking their approbation.

It is they who have given me life and continued existence ...

    Praise must be directed accordingly.

You both make me laugh, as I read about your magical journeys.

When I saw the intro all I could think of was "water water everywhere but not a drop to drink"

Yes, yes, Nancy Drew! Isn't Syl's tale wonderful?

In the case of post # 7897, the "child" of parents Sea and Sky is Rain: 'water water everywhere and many drops to drink.'

    Thanks for stopping by!

    CoCo, that was superb!

I hope you get published and I get to tell my g'children that I "knew" you.

Nancy, I think the both of us are simply logophiles.

    Sylvia,

I was very pleased to have packed your tandoori chicken lunch and your thermos with the mango lassi.

I'm also glad your trek through the piney woods was so inspiring.
