There was a "blue baby" born to a witness family in our suburban congregation. The boys father was the presiding overseer. The kid needed heart surgery. Because of the defect he was always Blue (I cannot figure out the color coding here). I mean really blue. Poor kid.
The poor kid was also way under weight, his hands and feet were swollen and his head was much bigger than his body. Everyone just thought this was fine, because his parents were sacrificing him for Jehovah and his prinipals.
He of course could not get surgery; this was the early 70's and blood free surgery had not made it here. He was about 15 when they finally were able to go blood free. However, now he has numerous, life long physical ailments from being born with the heart defect that could have been repaired. Nice parents.
