Oh, and they made sure that they reminded us at least twice at this assembly that Satan wants us to think critically about the Governing Body instead of just swallowing what they give us without asking. If someone is thinking critically, then this is demonic influence.
They gave the example of some Witnesses using Facebook as a place where they could question some things the WBTS has done recently, even something as simple as changing the song book.

^^^^ In response to the post above, I just have to say how sad it has become when your faith is so WEAK, that even questioning the incredibly horrible song book is considered an act of doubt and apostacy!!!!!! What a weak faith indeed!!!
This also points out and PROVES just how much Big Brother up in Bethel has been watching the online chatter on discussion boards such as this!! How else would they know and state such things if they weren't on here themselves to see it???

I went to a mainstream mega Christian church for a while. Guess what? It WASN'T boring!!!! They had an hour service, a large stage, actors led the sermon with an opening scene, the minister (Andy Stanley) was thought provoking and never answered the questions he posed to the audience, he brought the Bible to REAL life, they had a live band, live singers, and large screen TVs. I never left feeling guilty, just left feeling like I thougth and resolved a difficulty (or moved towards resolving a difficulty of life).
The best part is that the minister usually focused on one scripture or one chapter. He didn't criss-cross through the Bible, trying to make it say what he wanted it to say. The sermons are likely available on the website of North Pointe Community Church, but I haven't checked it out in a long time.
Oh, and the children "could go" to their own school rooms. The babies and toddlers went to a mere play room, with no "God" talk. Parents volunteered at the playrooms and you were given a tag and a pager. The older kids went to a watered down bible school - with no talk of death and destruction at Armegheddon.
In short, it was light years away from the Jehovah's Witnesses.

This is really going to date me, but in the early '60s, there was a lot of talk about not having televisions for precisely that reason--we'd become accustomed to entertainment, and wouldn't have the discipline to receive "spiritual food." So my family was roundly criticized for having a TV.
Then, in the late '60s, it slowly became OK to have a TV (for "news and educational programs," you understand), but getting a COLOR TV would be too much of a distraction (and so we were then roundly criticized for having a color TV).
Still, whenever the Rose Bowl came around, our couch was crowded with elders and ministerial servants, who usually couldn't be bothered to bring their own beer!
My parents were criticized for giving me a radio (I might listen to "rock" music) and then a record player of my own (my first album: Cher's "Gypsies, Tramps and Thieves," which is obviously unscriptural, immoral, and the reason I'm out now).
To all you younger JWs & ex-JWs, this is just a reminder that the more things change, the more they stay the same.

And of course the trend continued.
In the 70's, having cable TV ("you don't need to leave the house to watch an R-rated movie!") was frowned on, then OK.
In the 80's having a VCR ("you don't need to leave the house to watch porn!") was frowned on, then OK.
In the 00's, it's hi-def TV (too materialistic!) but eventually will be OK, if not already.
In the 2020's or 2030's, 3-D holographic projectors will be frowned upon, for a while....
