JWoods..
Back in the Day.
Food at Assemblys was the Bomb!..
It did`nt matter where you went, you ate very well..
The food at Assemblys, was a big deal..
I left before things started to change..
My understanding is..
Things got progressively worse in the food department..
Food preparation got worse and worse..
So bad,I`ve seen people complain about it on this board..
That was amazing to me..
Even More amazing..I found out food was no longer served at assembys..
....................... ...OUTLAW
I'm kinda with JWoods...
I remember the cafeteria food as well. I remember breakfast smelling so good but not tasting so good. I can still taste those nasty scrambled eggs (or whatever it was they passed off as eggs). Greasy ass bacon that slid right thru, if you get my meaning... and burnt toast. I seem to remember one year they had biscuits. No one ate them so they donated them to the NHL who froze them and used them as pucks...
Lunch was no better. Tasteless and greasy fried chicken and starchy mashed potatoes (not scratch made) that no amount of butter could save.
The parking lot attendents still hang out outside for most of the sessions of the CA and DC.
We call them the "parking goons". lol
Hmm ...
Looks like some people in North Cackalacky need some cooking lessons!
The first convention I attended was in 1974 - I was going on 21, married, and had an 8-month old.
The food there was definitely good.
Or, maybe it's just a Bama thingy?

Well, just a little story from the 1972 or 1973 "International Assembly" at the AstroDome in Houston, TX.
I worked in a department which bought and distributed food to the actual food service people - (cafeteria and refreshment stands).
We had two refrigerated semi-trailer trucks there full of stuff like frozen chicken fried steaks, hamburgers, hot dogs, and such. They had gas-powered refrigeration units to cool them. They ran out of gas overnight because somebody forgot and stayed that way for a whole day. The frozen food melted - it got to above 50F. My department head reported it to the assembly overseers and said that they should throw out that food as spoiled and buy fresh.
They did not - they ordered them to serve it anyway. About half a dozen of us were just sitting there like the Morton Thiokol engineers waiting for the O-rings to blow on the space shuttle. The department head actually said to me - I just hope we haven't made a lot of the friends sick today or even killed somebody.
Luckily, no reports of food poisoning came about. Another JW miracle, I guess.

Maybe, but I do remember the hot lunch at the Fremont CA jw Convention hall was the bomb (70's-80's). Best thing about going to the curcuit snoozefest.
JWoods, that was 1973. Some of my friends went to Houston.
I was too great with child to think about going!
Outlaw, at my first convention, I remember having 1/4 of a smothered chicken, rice/gravy. fresh green beans, buttered roll, and tea.
I even fed my 8-month old some.
Delicious.
