Do you really have to be "all-knowing" to predict the future. What if the events that are happening on earth are rather typical for planets with our formation. What if you had a data base of thousands of planets - perhaps millions? We're still not talking about "all-knowing" but something like "very-knowing". Do you think there might be some mathematical way of analyzing the data that would make some things more predictable?
Do you think it's unusual that civilization has advanced the most in the temperate zones of the earth? Don't humans tend to like areas that don't get too hot or too cold? Wouldn't you expect more creativity as the ambitious and discontented peoples of the world migrated out of the tropics and interacted in those areas of the world that accommodated the growing of grains?
Then there are those people who liked the excitement of the "new" who perched themselves on the shores of vast bodies of water. They became sophisticated at finding unique items to trade or sell. Is it coincidental that Britain and Japan , both islands off the mainland, have become leaders in commerce.
Now look at the world and see two islands. The Eurasian-African Island and the North-Central-South American Island. Would you have predicted that some innovative people would likely cross the Atlantic and be inclined toward commerce? Abundant resources, isolation, favorable climate guaranteed the success of the New World.
Is it just coincidence that the Northern climates were breeding grounds of collectivism? Is it strange that the tropics where the "tomorrow" philosophy dominates have not been good at evolving into enduring nations?
How hard is it to figure that the world would arrange itself into two camps - one concerned with capitalism(money) the other socialism(collective). Isn't this kind of a Yin/Yang thing. Don't forget the little white circle in the Yin and the dark circle in the Yang. Nature seems to like two super-poles and two sub poles. So Europe is Capitalistic with a strong undercurrent of Socialism. Asia is Socialistic with a strong undercurrent of Capitalism.
Zoom forward and you have two competitors. The US and Russia. The US is rich Babylon the Great sitting as a queen over the whole world. The US has been blessed because two of its largest neighbors are the Atlantic and the Pacific. Russia's claim to fame is losing 20 million people ridding the world of Nazis. The only way a land locked cold climate country can gain influence in the world is by being tough. The military has been supreme in the Soviet Union. Even though they have a depleted army, they still are taken somewhat seriously because they have enough nuclear weapons to obliterate any enemy.
Don't write off Russia because its economy is bad. Its always been bad. Countries that have the least to lose are the most dangerous. Don't forget Germany after WWI.
Maybe this is the typical course of events for a planet with our configuration. How much fine tuning would be necessary to bring things to a head. The whole Bible focuses on "the end". As much as everyone here hates the fact that JW's keep preaching the "END". That just happens to be an important theme of the Bible. But it is more than the end ... it's about intervention at some critical point to save man from annihilation.
Our benefactors may not be some all knowing God but some "very-knowing" entities of some unknown dimension who have a policy of minimum interference.
