As a JW, did you love your job "too much"?

    Greetings, friends:

I recall not too long ago that an article in one of the publications [KM, AWAKE!, WT ... ?] mentioned a young sister who had a flourishing day-care service that she loved. In the course of the story, we read how she came to the sobering realization that she loved her work "too much," that she was, consequently, depriving Jehovah of devotion due him. That's the idea, anyhow. I think she left or sold the business to - what else?

Did you ever feel that way as a JW, know of such an example, or receive counsel to let up on the job to spend more time in service?

    Thanks!

Of course! But until the Watchtower pays me for pushing their beliefs comparable to what I'm making now, I'll just continue to put work first.

Coco ,I had an Elder advise me not to 'like my job too much "

I had to work because we were barely making ends meet with three little children . Once all the kids were in school I went to work in a little gift shop in town . I liked being able to use my artistic abilities making displays and such . Why couldn't he just be happy for me ?

    Thanks for your thoughts!

    Troubled Mind:

That's the puzzling part - we have to make a living, so why not enjoy it? Why we had to live and work
a joyless existence may not have been the intention, but the rules and regulations sure imply as much!

    Darth P:

Your donation will contribute to the worldwide work ... your effort is viewed with keen appreciation.

    OUTLAW:

The nerve. Talk about ulterior motives: 'Well, since you no longer need that job, why not give it to me?'

    Thanks again!

Totally addicted to my job, my wife says I was always a workaholic.

That would not have been the case if I had to clean windows for a living though.
