I always share credit when I feel a colleague deserves it. It has always been good for my working relationships. I am a team player.
I am also happy when my friends shine or succeed. We all have our flaws, and I have mine, but I am not an envious person. Since they are my friends, what is good for them is good for me. A great part of success in life is your social network. Be loyal, honest and supportive towards the people you care about. It will always return to you. Even if it does not, your conscience will always be clear.
However, when I compete, I go all out, but within the rules, and without being snaky either.
I don't mind being the behind the scenes person that makes it all work. I guess that is par for the course in IT, which I have done for many years.
As long as I get my fair share of the $$ in an endeavor, I am happy. You can keep the fame.
