To make Hemopure 'we take bovine blood and, using filtration and chromatography,

The haemoglobin for MP4 comes from out-of-date human blood, rather than the bovine blood used for Hemopure.

Blood Substitute Hemopure Approved for Use in Human Patients

In addition, some have been concerned because this is a product that comes from cows; the recent highlights on bovine spongiform encephalopathy (mad cow disease) has brought this issue to the forefront. However, the company states that this is not an issue or risk with this product, again because of the purification process.

Hemopure has been found to be acceptable for use for Jehovah's Witnesses, a group of patients that refuse the transfusion of human blood products for religious reasons. Other clinical applications remain to be determined as the product becomes available and further studies are done.

The product should be available in South Africa beginning in early 2002. The company plans to file for approval in Europe and the United States prior to the product's release in South Africa. They base their regulatory filings on over twenty clinical studies conducted in many countries.

Though the end goal is the same, the problem has been tackled a number of different ways -- one of those ways is using hemoglobin from incredibly different origins. One of the two blood substitutes that seems to be among the closest to approval for widespread use, called Hemopure, is made from bovine (cow) blood... another, known as PolyHeme, is made from outdated, human blood (donated blood that was not used within the required 42-day timeframe). One recently abandoned product was made using genetically modified Escherichia coli bacteria -- the researchers modified the bacteria, and the bacteria produced the hemoglobin product.

Still, generally speaking, the same basic technique is used to produce both Hemopure and PolyHeme -- hemoglobin is extracted from the red blood cells (whether from human blood or cow blood), then the hemoglobin is purified (to remove risk of disease), the molecules are chemically linked together to stabilize them (early tests showed that skipping this step caused kidney problems), then the end product is put into a solution. The end result: Products with very long life spans (36 months at room temperature for Hemopure... over 12 months refrigerated for PolyHeme), that can be administered to anyone with no blood typing, and that are free of disease.

So much for pouring the "life force" on the ground.

Moreover, how would you get a 'fraction' if you had poured the blood onto the ground?

    Definition of hemoglobin

Hemoglobin: The oxygen-carrying pigment and predominant protein in the red blood cells. Hemoglobin forms an unstable, reversible bond with oxygen. In its oxygenated state it is called oxyhemoglobin and is bright red. In the reduced state it is called deoxyhemoglobin and is purple-blue.

Each hemoglobin molecule is made up of four heme groups surrounding a globin group. Heme contains iron and gives a red color to the molecule. Globin consists of two linked pairs of polypeptide chains. The development of each chain is controlled at a separate genetic locus. Changes in the amino acid sequence of these chains results in abnormal hemoglobins. For example, hemoglobin S is found in sickle-cell disease, a severe type of anemia in which the red cells become sickle-shaped when oxygen is in short supply.

When red blood cells die, the hemoglobin within them is released and broken up: the iron in hemoglobin is salvaged, transported to the bone marrow by a protein called transferrin and used again in the production of new red blood cells; the remainder of the hemoglobin becomes a chemical called bilirubin that is excreted into the bile which is secreted into the intestine, where it gives the feces their characteristic yellow-brown color.

It's the stuff within the red blood cell (RBC). Since Hemopure is not a whole rbc, it should be considered a fraction.

That's true, but there would be no blood to use to process if jws really followed the "pour it out on the ground" doctrine they preach.

Marvin Shilmer would be the go to person on this. This is right up his alley.

They take cows blood and instead of pouring it out on the ground, they make Hemopure to put in human bodies. How unbiblical and sick is that?

And the WTS allows hemoglobin-based products and neglects to say where the hemoglobin had to come from. It also neglects to say how long this blood (especially human) was stored before it was processed. It wasn't just a few minutes or hour, but hours/days. Were the Israelites allowed to store this; is this blood processed, blood from the individual they put it into?

(Deuteronomy 12:16) 16 Only the blood YOU must not eat. On the earth you should pour it out as water.

(Deuteronomy 12:23-24) 23 Simply be firmly resolved not to eat the blood, because the blood is the soul and you must not eat the soul with the flesh. 24 You must not eat it. You should pour it out upon the ground as water.

(Deuteronomy 15:22-23) . . .. 23 Only its blood you must not eat. Upon the earth you should pour it out as water.

(Leviticus 17:13) 13 “‘As for any man of the sons of Israel or some alien resident who is residing as an alien in YOUR midst who in hunting catches a wild beast or a fowl that may be eaten, he must in that case pour its blood out and cover it with dust.
