As a witness you don't really have any access to the people in the world..you only know the witnesses.

When you get out for a while you realize that stress and anxiety are everywhere.

JW's aren't holding any medals for having the most breakdowns..

Worldly people were having them also...

Anxiety and Depression medications weren't developed solely for JW's of course....the thing is , JW's are led to believe they are the happiest people in the world and have just about all the answers to life's problems. If this isn't the case for you, it is indicated that you may not be relying on Jehovah enough, or are spiritually weak or lacking in faith. Those who are suffering may feel a greater need to "play along" out of shame rather than seek help. They are told to study more, get out in service more, never miss a meeting....as a treatment for a condition that may need medical attention.

Well i do remember one now that commited herself to a mental hospital as she told me "To get away from her husband". She was afraid of him because she had been sleeping with the guys in her neighborhood and was afraid he found out. So she faked mental problems to have a free place to stay. Then she found a rooming house to stay in and left the kids with him. (Both JW's).

    I couldn't believe they didn't keep her..

I dont think there is any such thing as a nervous break down.

But there were a lot of goofy people at the hall.

I think anytime you get to know a lot of people personally you will find them to be goofy.

Familiarity breeds contempt. Witness or non witness.

Women who dont work and men with idle time thats the devils workshop.

When an elder, I was brought into a matter that involved a young married couple. We had known the young woman since she was very young. Very sweet and shy. She manifested what I later recognized as severe Obsessive/Compulsive Disorder (OCD). She had become almost completely disfunctional. Her young husband was at his wits end. She should have been receiving medical care. We encouraged praying to Jay Hoover when she found herself flipping the light switch on and off several hundred times before she could enter a room.

    I hate the WTS.

I knew one. he was a lovely sweet soul and was always spreading joy to others. Then one day I heard he had "had a breakdown....again". (Didn't know this was re-occuring.) Seems he beat his head on the concrete driveway until he was all bloody. He didn't come around for a long time. I heard he would not see any visitors either. Then , he moved away. You are remembered fondly and missed, Frank.

I know of ten, and that is just among people I knew well enough to know the details, (that they were carted off to the psych ward for treatment as in completely not coping). That does not include the slew of others I know who were on anti-anxiety and depression medications but still functioning on some level and no trip to hospital (or they kept it quiet enough no one knew).

To be fair, most who had a complete breakdown were victims of abuse of some sort. I also knew many who were self medicating depression and anxiety with alcohol

I also know of three suicides and a couple of attempted teen suicides. Oh if you include the attempted teen suicides, you can bump my previous number to 12.

    Such a happy bunch.

Just noticed Jaguarbass' post. If you ever saw one in person, you would know it and wouldn't doubt it existed. Oops, I just remembered two more, I forgot, bring that previous number up to 14. (Please keep in mind I'm only counting the cases that were actually carted to the psych ward and kept for treatment). The two I just added were also young women, victims of abuse.
