A life without love isn't necessarily without it's rewards. Some seek a life of intellectual or 'spiritual' fulfillment that may prove to be satisfying on a very deep level and yet, to my mind at least, it's only when you can share new insights or new discoveries with someone you love that those things take on real meaning.
Love can give even the most everyday observation an extra dimension. I was walking my dog by a local lake a few days ago. The sun was approaching the treetops on a rather dreary, cloudy day but for a couple of minutes it broke through a gap in the clouds and lit up the water! The leaves on the trees radiated against the dark clouds behind them - it was 90 seconds of magic.
But my wife wasn't with me just then and though I appreciated what I was looking at all I wanted was to be sharing it with the love of my life. I was back home 10 minutes later.

True love is the greatest thing in the world. Except for a nice MLT - mutton, lettuce and tomato sandwich, where the mutton is nice and lean and the tomato is ripe...they're so perky, I love that.
