According to the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Obfuscation, Obfuscation is the concealment of intended meaning in communication, making communication confusing, intentionally ambiguous, and more difficult to interpret. I think that applies to the Watchtower and specifically, its Governing Body with respect to 1914 start year of Jesus supposedly ruling in the heavens. Please, what are other examples of GB's obfuscation you know of?

EG ...Their own massaging of the mistakes of the past, such as predicting the end in 1914. Compare this later reference :

    1914 A Marked Year (Awake 1999 12/8 p12)

"According to Winston Churchill, “the dawn of the twentieth century seemed bright and calm.” Many thought that it would bring an era of unprecedented peace and prosperity. Yet, in 1905 the Watch Tower of September 1 warned: “There will be more war ere long,” also stating that a “great cataclysm” would start in 1914.In fact, as early as 1879, that publication pointed to 1914 as a significant date. In later years it noted that Bible prophecies in the book of Daniel pinpointed that date as the time when God’s Kingdom was established in heaven. (Matthew 6:10) While 1914 was not the time for the Kingdom to take complete control of earth’s affairs, it was the time for it to begin its rule."

BluesBrother : wow, Iam amazed by range of related words for obfuscate. As snowbird pointed out, its "this generation" thingy. I appreciate your effort in providing a little historical background to the famous year as reported in the Awake magazine.

OMG! the new word of legerdemain. I have checked its meaning here is what I got; sleight of hand; skill of a stage magician; trickery of any sort; deceit. I believe its relevant too in discribing exactly what the Watchtower is all about.

Dark Side , by providing the picture, it certainly helps better get the meaning of what caliber 's comments is all about.
